Drum to Disc

What do i need to swap my 88' drum rear end for a 9 bolt posi disc rear from 87-89 iroc? any special kits?

i would just buy an iroc rear end from the junk yard and swap em.

thats what im getting im just wondering if it will just swap it cause i have drum brakes in mine now and im getting a posi disc from another iroc to put in im just wondering if i need anything like brake lines or anything for the braking system or will it just bolt right in

No it will bolt right in i think the e-brake cables r different tho. You might want to change ur proportioning valve tho.

with the prop valve- watch out becuase the thread pitch on some is different than on others- I found out the hard way.......

iroc rear end

is the 88 iroc rearend any stronger looking for somthing to put the power to the ground behiond a 383 punched .060 over that i wont blow up on the quarter mile???

Well, neither the 9 nor 10 bolts are much to write home about when you have a 383 in the car and plan to drag it.

They can be strengthened (sp?) to a degree and would probably last with mild street abuse, but if you are doing red-line clutch dumps every other weekend, I'd just as well go with a 12-bolt (or Ford 9") right from the start.

The 9" Fords are pretty nice- I was talking with a guy that could provide me with the the unit made to proper length with proper mounts and spring perches and also weld the chevy type flanges on the end so I could still use my current Baer disc setup. These tend to cost a few dollars, though.

However, an upgrade investment now might save time and money down the road.

You will need disc brake e-brake cables and proportioning valve.
