Is it worthwhile upgrading wonderbar+sway bars? Stock to Spohn

I have a GTA 350 TPI and have been pondering something for a while now.... I've saved up the cash for a complete suspension rebuild/upgrade inc. SFC's, STB, springs, struts/shocks, poly bushings, LCA, LCA relocation brackets, torque arm etc, etc.

1. Is it worth changing my stock "wonder bar" / steering brace to a Spohn version? http://www.spohn.net/index.cfm?fusea...&productid=122

2. Is it worth changing the stock sway bars to the Spohn versions. "Larger & stronger 1 5/16" front (solid) & 1" rear (solid) 4140 chrome moly sway bars". http://www.spohn.net/index.cfm?fusea...t&productid=51

Thanks for the help!

No, removing these stock parts and replacing them will only drain money from your wallet. Spend it on other Spohn parts like SFC's, Rear LCA's or Pandard Bar. Also install a STB. My opinion.

But he said he's already going to do that stuff(except the panhard bar, but I highly recommend one). I would say no and no. You probably wont feel the difference between the stock wonderbar and the aftermarket wonderbar. And those swaybars are expensive. Find a set of 1LE sway bars for cheaper and then use new bushings. I got my set for $100.

Thanks guys,

As I said I've set apart the $$$ to do the work - I am planning on all the various things mentioned above. Plus, the panhard bar! I'd just forgetten to mention that.

Which Spohn panhard bar would you recommend? Std tubular with poly bushings or adjustable with poly bushings?

Should I coat/paint the stock sway bars and steering brace when I have them off whilst fitting the bushings? Perhaps POR-15?

Again, many thanks for all the help and advice.

I would just go with the standard non-adjustable parts. How many time do people really use the adjustments? Save the extra money for other parts. Yes, use the Por-15 while there off.

I would get the adjustable panhard bar with the poly if you are goin to lower you car its so u can center the rear end. Also get the chrome molly its lighter and stronger worth the extra cash imo.Yes i would also coat the sway bar and wonder bar while ur at it.I would sand the sway bars and wonder bar down get them nice and smooth then primer them and i used some rust prevention paint by SEM it is holding up good. I heard por 15 was exspensive.

Get them powder coated while they are off. You won't be sorry. They will resist corrosion and clean up much better than paint.

i bought some 1LE 36/24mm sway bars last year and they had alot of surface rust, used some POR-15 and a year later they still look great. And the handling improvement was more than i expected.

As far as cost goes I wouldn't be a good source for that because the guy that does powder coating here, does it on the side and he charges about $15 per item that he can put in his oven. I can testify to the quality of powdercoating though. I like it. It is hard to chip too. Cleans up good. There should be a few contacts in the yellow pages of your home town. I would just give most of them a call to shop around for prices. Sorry I couldn't be more help on that.
