so there is still no source for these spacers?

These spacers that are used when building solid rear control arms. They fit into 3/4 inch heim joints to take up the space on either side of the joint. They also "bushing" the factory bolt to fit the 3/4" hole on the joints. There is no source for them still with out making them or having them made?

Get me the specs.... I have a few boxes of those same type of spacers, actually from Mustang lower arms, but they -may- work. PM me if you want.

The larger OD should be about 1", smaller OD .750, the ID is 1/2", height of larger shoulder is 3/4". I'm not sure about the height of the smaller shoulder, but I am interested in a set of 8 too.

What price range are you looking at for these spacers, I have a machine shop that made some for me maybe if enough people are interested I could have a few more sets made?

I would say no more than $10 to $15 for a set of 8, that might be too much even. It would actually be cheaper to get 3 pieces together but much more inconvienient. I'm thinking the material should be some pretty dense aluminum or an average grade of steel.

Yeah... thats what I'm talking about. They want something like $4 each. Even if they are the perfect size that is $32 for a set.

This is what we are trying to do. Coleman is listed at this link as a supplier, but its not quite right. The listed source isn't bad for the reducers, but the supplier for the spacers is out of stock and I think I read were they require a pretty large min. order.

http://www.jonaadland.com/Z28/Mods/L...minumLCAs.html

FYI, Jegs has the rod ends for about $29 each, but they are pricey for the jam nuts (5 per pack.) Coleman has the jam nuts nice and cheap.

I'm sure there are some local machine shops around who would do it for us without too much trouble if they get good dimensions. I have a place in mind that I will try and get in touch with soon. But I'm not holding my breath.

I am currently building a panhard rod from scratch. Its costed about $100 so far. But I am have access to a machine shop so I don't have to pay shop rate. The material for the spacer would cost you about $10.00.If you took it to a shop it would be fairy expensive paying shop rate. The Colemans are cheap if they would fit. The problem with the aluminum LCA is that aluminum will work harden and could crack or break. The ones they sell are really for racing use. They don't have to deal with potholes or continous stop and go traffic. Also you need a rod thu the rod end to transfer the compression to entire length of the bolt. The ones in the picture on that site aren't correct. It would work fine and probably never have a problem on a low horsepower car.But for my piece of mind I used a 3/4 tube thru the rod end. Then made spacers to keep the rod end from moving side to side. It was fairy easy.I saved 90 bucks over what Spohn gets for them. But I have the machines to do it.

That sounds like the way to do it. A 1/2"IDx3/4"OD tube for the rod end to ride on, and 2 short 3/4"IDx1"OD pieces to keep it centered.

These are the pieces I have a ton of.... I will try to measure them tomorrow. If they are the correct size, I'll sell them for $1.00 ea. Sound fair?

those are not the item we are looking for, they are only the center part and you would still have to "make" the outsides of the spacers to use them.

Most of the aftermarket LCAs use a tube with about .125" wall thickness with threaded sections welded to the ends of the tubes. The aluminum shafts have a thicknes of .220" Another note of interest I found is that there are a lot of race car manufacturers that use similar types of parts for suspension components. Check out www.speedwaymotors.com too, not the biggest selection of parts for this project but just another example. Notice that most of the stuff used for road race/dirt/asphalt race cars typically isn't as strong looking as the stuff made for our cars. But the QA1 rod ends seem to be some of the best ones I've seen while looking at a bunch of supplier web sites.
