total cost of each brake upgrade kit for 82-92 cars

i think this thread would be a good sticky if we can get it together. basicallly a thread with all the optional upgrade kits for thirdgens, the parts needed, availability and an rough total cost price. i think itd be better because when people are inquiring on upgrading their brakes they can look at the sticky instead of having them all post a bazillion threads and just getting " do a search" for an answer. lets do it up!

many options

Either c4 or c5 brakes are the best options. C4 (front) brake kit from Ed Miller has dual piston calipers and 12" rotors, same as baer for $550.00 if you have 15" or 16" wheels. C5 conversion if you have 17" or larger wheels. These are the cheapest best upgrade compared to the cost of 1LE or baer. Plenty of threads about this stuff

prices vary every where you go....you must do your homework and become familiar with the product.

when i started a 12" basic baer sport set ran 1100. once i finished i could get one for 600. it pays to shop around.

you have to search....it's out there. the moderators frown upon pushing other "stores" that aren't sponsoring the site. those who are truly looking into something know what to do. it's never as simple as one place is the best place for everything.

Humm, I've been a member of this site for a long time--shoot, when I first joined, if I recall correctly, there were only a 1,000 members, perhaps fewer. When Dirk had difficulties with the server and the site was in jeopardy, I sent a check in support. What's all that mean? Well, I've always believed that this is an enthusiast/hobbist site, one that advances all segments of our passion for thirdgen cars, regardless of sponsor (yes, I do support them, check my sig, but I'm also open to all those who support our platform by investing time and considerable money to advance that platform. Some are sponsors, some aren't. Long live the hobbist). That said, I'll buy where I damn well chose. I think SLP's idea is a good one: The more information at my disposal, the easier my decisions. Who better to provide that information than experienced thirdgenners?

Here's a little list I compiled in 15 minutes (using the search button). If I found the price I listed it...

Bolt on Front Upgrade Options
----------------------------------------
Baer Sport 12" Kit (1LE equiv) - $1115 New from Thunder Racing
Baer Track 13" Kit - $1125 New from Thunder Racing
SSBC 1LE 12" Kit - $1195 New from SSBC
Spohn 1LE 12" Kit - $850 New from Spohn

DIY Front Upgrade Options
----------------------------------------
C5 Vette Front 12.75" Upgrade
C4 Vette 12" Upgrade - another link here.
LS1 Front 12" Upgrade

Bolt on Rear Upgrade Options
----------------------------------------
Baer Touring Kit (same as stock 91-92 rear Discs) - $785 New Thunder Racing
AndyZ28 91-92 (1LE) 12" PBR Kit 10/9 Bolt - $731 New Parts
Junkyard Used 91-92 Rear Disc Upgrade - +-$250 (depends)

DIY Rear Upgrade Options
----------------------------------------
LS1 Rear Upgrade 12" PBR - $550 New GM Parts / +-$250 Used Junkyard

And theen there is always the choice of upgrading your current setup. Cheaper but not as effective ...

Baer Rear Rotor Upgrade (OEM Caliper) - $135

I think this is a good idea SLP IROC-Z. I can't offer much yet since I'm just starting to collect parts for an LS1 swap. I will keep a total of my costs and be happy to provide info when I'm finished.
