88 Fromula 350 WS6 or not
I have a 88 Formula 350 (no rpo codes) parts car and it has a good steering box and mine leaks a little right now. But I wondering how I could tell if it was WS6 or not? I have heard that they come with better steering boxs.
Right now I know that it has 4 wheel disc breaks and a 3.27 B-W rearend.

Well since it has AR outlaw 1's that are 15" I do not know what size it came with originally. How can I find out?

ss85tadude,
To my knowledge all 87-92 formula's came with 16x8 wheels & 245/50/16 stock. And as was previously posted all had the ws6 suspension standard. Trans Am GTA & Formula's also all had the quick ratio 12/1 steering boxes. Hope this helps.

Well that depends. You will have to research out what suspension option your car originaly came with. In 1985 the 16" wheels were optional not standard with the ws6 package. Remember it was only the first year they were available as an RPO. But to my knowledge all that were optioned with the 16"wheels had the quick ratio steering box. If yours didn't come with 16" wheels that is not to say that you don't have the good box, but you will have to reseach a little harder to find out. I think that all ws6 cars had the fast box but I'm not sure. Hope this helps.

If I remember right the standard steering box has a 15/1 ratio which is the standard f-body box. Also the fast ratio box had shorter steering stops to compensate for the larger tires.

Well it make it steer quicker with less turns lock to lock. Installing the wonderbar is a good inexpensive move and will improve handeling by stiffening the steering box area for less deflection. I would say the next move would be subframe connectors (weld in style--- see spohn website) and then look at suspension bushings and decide how far you want to go from there (mild--poly bushings and boxing control arms or wild-- trust me too much to list) Best thing I can tell you is make sure your car is at least safe, then check out some suspension sites and have a blast. My personal fav is spohn engineering (see above links) Good luck
