16 Inch 2002 Z-28 Rims Bolt Patter for 3 GEN?

I have some of the Z-28 16inch Rims from a 2001 or 2002 camaro and I would like to put them on my 89 Camaro. What do I need to do to make the swap? Is there a bolt on kit that would do it? I found a web site that seems to have billit aluminum brackets that allow me to change the bolt pattern but problem is that they are $300 for a set of 2! That would make $600 Total! Thats insane! Any one got a cheaper solution? THANKS!

The bolt pattern is the same but that backspacing is different. You will need about 2" spacer all around for those wheels to clear and fit okay on your 3rd gen,

Do you know how much a 2" spacer would cost? Any sites that I could get these from?

www.skulte.com

They have them. Try a search for wheel spacers and you will find a few other links as well. You are looking at about $100 per spacer or about $400 for all 4 wheels. They aren't cheap but they are very nice pieces.

I looked into the spacers and they would run 300 a pair BUT the people I talked to said it would be a bad idea to try to put spacers on because it could damage internal equipment. I think they were referring to stuff like suspension and bearings. Any way I think they just wanted to scare me out of keeping my rims and getting some from them. What do you think?

I think they have no idea what they are talking about. Spacers will not damage anything at all. They couldn't possibly hurt the suspension at all because they are not even attached to it directly. Plenty of people on this board use them with 4th gen wheels without any problems at all.

I thought so. All they do is just space the wheel out so I figure how could that affect anything! I think that they just wanted me to buy something from them. They told me that they put spacers on a **** burner 4 banger (honda) and one of the tires fell off! I am thinking that the only way that happened is if THEY didnt bolt it on right! Any way thanks for the input!

All that using spacers for those wheels on one of these cars does, it sot move the wheel back to its correct offset. The suspension does not care how the tire get to be in the right place; that is, whether the actual wheel hub is more or less centered on the rim like 3rd gen ones are, or whether the wheel hub is farther away and there's a block of something in between.

Using spacers to create that silly looking r¡cer skateboard wheel effect is a different matter. That moves the tire to someplace other than where the suspension was designed for it to be, and stresses everything out. That's probably what happened to the person who told you about the Honduh. They evidently have no experience with real cars, only those little toy ones.

True, I would not doubt it. I hate that skateboard look. It drives me nutz! Not to mention the motorcycle sounding exhaust they put on it. What they get out of a car they think looks good but serves NO purpose illudes me. Oh yeah and get those crazy ground effects!! AHHHHH ! Its enough to drive you mad or, on second though just drive over them!! Thanks

Some people have made their own by cutting the outisde of a brake rotor off and machining it to the correct thickness

Using spacers places more stress on your wheel studs though.
