Any one that knows of a good place to buy and have installed performance parts for a thirdgen near chicago illinois, or specifically north of it in the suberbs please post them.

Ps sorry but this seemed as good a place as any to post this because i need a shop that can do engine work but also drive train and chassis and transmissions too if i am luckey.

Also any suggestions of other places i could look would be greatly apriciated!

anyways, what kinda specific work you need? id be willing to help, but im out by rockford now, but ill more then likely be moving down towards the glendale heights area in august if you need any help then.

 

what about the "mods" it is being moved by its self?


and thanks for the offer the key problem i really have is that forstarters when i wand a good opinion of what i should do about a problem or performance question no one knows our cars that well that i know of. but also the big thing is that i just dont have all of the equiptment that i kneed a shop for, welder, lift, engine puller and other little stuff that i dont even know about.

if you do live near me (Deerfield, IL.) Mabe if i do need a hand i can call on you some time

I live in Chicago and can help you with things that do not require a lift.

There are almost no knowledgable TPI shops in the area. The only one that comes to mind is Performance Technical Center in Elk Grove Village. They mainly do Corvettes, but very knowledgable on TPI's They are not cheap, so don't go there looking for deals.

I started this thread a long time ago (2004) looks like Performance Technical Center in Elk Grove Village is no longer in business. Anyone have any other places that do good work on TPI thirdgens in the NW Chicago suburbs. I have since moved to Lake Zurich if anyone knows where that is.

If anyone in the area wants some free beer and is good at chasing down an electrical no start issue, let me know!

You have an endless number of chassis shops around you. Mosey on over to YellowBullet forum and you'll find threads with names.

I am getting power. Interior is all powered up, engine cranks, but I don't seem to be getting injector pulse or spark. There was an animal nest involved though, which is a bit of a wild card....

I live in Wauconda (one town over). I just had a bunch of work done on my 1991 Firebird by Custom Classics in Island Lake. I am very happy with the work that they did on my car, which involved:

-removing an alarm system and chasing down/fixing other electrical gremlins;
-installing subframe connectors (Heidts!);
-installing 3.42:1 r&p, posi and recalibrating the speedometer;
-installing a new exhaust system from the y-pipe back.

They did a great job communicating their progress with the car. I am very happy with the quality of the work; they were neat/tidy and gave me the car back looking better than when I had dropped it off (they even threw in a bottle of touch-up paint that they mixed for me).

RobGuitarGod is in the NorthWest suburbs. He is extremely competent and knowledgeable, If you're looking for someone to install parts you may be able to strike a deal with him.

 

I see "RobGuitarGod1" is a member here. Does he run a shop, or has just been known to be helpful to people in the area?

 

He's just a normal guy, no shop. He could do just as good of a job as any welding or exhaust shop without the huge hourly fee.
