Best place to get a roll bar in canada and cost?

What is the best place to get a roll bar in canada and what is the best price I can find?

Also does anyone know the cost it would be to have a roll bar shipped from summit racing to the edmonton area?

Thanks very much guys

Are you referring to a roll bar as in " Roll Cage" or roll bar as in "Anti roll bar" for the suspension.

Assuming the former, then Summit is probably as good as any. Be aware that Drag Specs are often different than Road Race\Hillclimbs ( Usually requires a Cage ). Autocross can get away with only a 6 point bar as in Drag Racing. Make sure that you have a Rule Book with the specs required if you are going to use it for competition. For Road Racing etc anything that is SCCA legal will also be legal in Canada. For Drag Racing, anything that is NHRA legal will be fine.

Auto-Power makes some good bolt in cages that are SCCA legal for Road Racing.

Shipping? Usually the best way is UPS ground. Definately don't go air freight with a heavy object like a Roll Bar or Cage.....mucho money. Summit or who ever you by from should be able to supply shipping costs. Or get the weight and go to UPS's online site. They have a rate calculater there.

A better alternative may be to have the Roll Bar custom made at a local shop. There should be several Drag Racing fabricators in Edmonton. Check out the Yellow Pages under " Racing parts " . Check with some local racers who may be able to recommend a good local shop.

Now if it's a suspension " Anti- Roll Bar " that you want then the bone yards may be your best bet....cheap too. Buy and Sell also would work. factory sizes from IROC's work just fine.

I would look for some shops locally that put roll bars and cages in cars. They will do it right the first time and you will pass tech. Talk to some other racers and see where they got theirs done.

well see the thing is, I am fully capable of installing it myself and I am 18 and poor. I really don't wanna spend the 500 bucks I have seen them advertised for, and I am also doing as much on my camaro as I possibly can, I dunno it's a pride thing if I get a shop to do it, I just can't say, I installed the roll bar. LOL weird, I'm kinda stubborn like an old man.

Anyhow, I think I'm going to phone around some and see what can be done, also alot of the websites of companies that manufacture the roll bars have specs.

Even if I buy a kit with the 2 side bars, I'm not installing them, simply because they aren't required until I hit a certain time on the track, and this is my street car, so I will have to pick between being smooshed and bending the side bar around my armrest, or having NO armrest.

In any case thanks for the replies and I appreciate anymore info anyone else has for me.

You can get NHRA approved swing out side bars.

Guyon racing in Calgary. Check the rulebook before you try to put it in yourself.

I found a good place in calgary

Unlimited Performance and Exhaust has a kit and the loop for 300 bucks

Although I think I am opting for only getting the loop, and then the back struts with the crossbeam, cuz I really don't need the side bars, and they seem like such a pain for a daily driver

Oh and I did check the rule book, rear struts can't connect lower than 5 inches from the top of the bar, and the cross bar can't be... Uhh I forget inches below the drivers head

I wasn't too happy with my dealings with Unlimited Performance, but I'm sure others have been so it's probably neither here nor there. Check the rules about how the cage is to be welded in.

I had them install new gears, an aluminum driveshaft and a transmission in my car. There was some problem with the transmission when they installed it, but instead of calling me or the rebuilder right away they messed around with it and burned up the clutches. My tranny guy and I ended up sharing the cost of that. They also swapped the speedometer gears between the two transmissions after I'd explicitly asked them not to, and I never did get the original driveshaft back. This is a few years ago, and like I say my experiences aren't necessarily typical.

If you're not getting at least the driver's side bar then it's not legal anyway, so why bother?

The reason I am doing it is because I can always add the drivers side bar with little difficulty, I have T-Tops and if I roll my car, basically I have accepted without a roll bar I am dead. I think the rules state that the car has to go under 7.25 seconds to require the side bars. At least that is how I read it.

Which rule book did you get that information from?

Ok I just looked on the NHRA site

http://www.nhra.com/contacts/tech_faq.html

I dunno what I wanna do now, cuz I definatly don't want that side bar there for day to day driving but I do want my bar approved.

Hmmmm if I got the swing out bar is it possible to take it apart when I'm not at the track?

If you went with a 6 point roll bar with a swing out door bar you could remove it for street driving. If you are interested in racing at a track find out if they are NHRA or IHRA and buy the applicable rule book. Also a call to their tech department will answer a lot of questions you might have.
