10 Bolt Drum Brakes on 9 Bolt BW Rear

Well my friend Blake and I succesfully put 10 bolt drum brakes onto a 9 bolt rear this weekend, I can post pictures when I get home. It wasn't easy but the clearences were fine and brakes work fine.

yeah the rear came with no brakes or backing plates, so after trying to find the backing plates for the disk, i just decided to try and swap the drums onto the rear, i searched alittle but nothing came up. All in all it wasn't a big deal if i had had picks or detailed info it would have went faster.

For future reference, I have sources for both 9 and 10 bolt PBR disc backing plates...guess it's too late for you now, huh?

yeah but everything works fine, if i run into any problems I may be contacing you for those backing plates and switch to disc after all

yeah that is the truth. I bought the rear from the guy who now owns my 87 formula 350, the car only had 58,000 miles on it he put a 12 bolt in

I am really interested in doing this. I have a 9 bolt and the only thing holding me back is the brakes. I am intimidated by having to mess with the adjustable proportioning valve. I would really like a how-to article on this. Is it a straight bolt on?

it's not a straight bolt on you will need a welder, i'll post more later if you want when i have more time
