I'm going to order Spohn SFC's in the next day or two. I have a few questions. If I decide to get them coated for the extra 45 dollars is the black powercoated? It doesn't say. I have an LT1 with my 92 RS and in the future I'm going to install SLP 1 3/4" headers. Will these SFC's run me problems down the road? What has been your experience with getting SFC's coated from Spohn?

They will be fine. You may have problems if you run dual cats. These subframes are really thin and do not get in the way as eassily as other SFC's. I would not get the powder coating only because the stitch welds along the length of them will require you to strip the coating off anyway. I would spray them with some rustolium or an equvavlent paint to keep them nice and neat over the years.

 

If you are going to go with new headers and exhaust, it would be my opinion to wait on SFC's. The powder coating is worthwhile, even if you grind small areas for the welds. I have both the SLP 1 3/4 headers and the Spohn SFC's (red powder coating). One installation problem with SFC's is the heat shield on the cat needs removed. But its your choice.

I believe he said wait on SFC's. I think SFC's should be the first mod that any f-body owner should consider.

 

I said if you are going with new headers and exhaust, WAIT until that work is completed then install the SFC's. The case being installing the SFC's later will be easier.

 

Other way around, putting the SFCs on first and fitting the exhaust around them is easier.

The guy i took in it had to cut up some part of the ypipe, and move around the exhaust to fit the Spohn Sub-Frames in. Wasnt a big deal, but in my case, i should of put the SFC in first then exhaust. And i should of not even coated it, cuz most of it had to be coming off to be welded. Doesnt matter cuz he black coated it for me after, so it worked out great.

 

i order comp eng sub frame connectors and they needed to be pass true the floor pan...and im maybe about to look for hotchkis one. or better ideas ?bbk ????spohn witch one???
