what tires to buy
my tires are almost done. my first set of tires on my car were Bridgestone Potenzas. When they were done i got Michelin Pilot XGT.
The Potenzas were pretty nice, but they were with the 305 motor, so im not able to judge how well they will hook up.
The Pilots SUCK. They dont stick, with the 305 or the LT1.
So, what do you guys think is best for me now that i am LT1 powered? i want to hook up a little better off the line. I also would like to stay under $200 a tire.

I would say try out either the BF goodrich KDW tires or Goodyear F1 GS-D3's. Those are prolly your two best bets, or if you dont really care about tread life and dont drive it to much in heavy rain i would go with the nitto 555r's. Hope that helps.

Well if you want the best off-the-line traction for a street tire then you should probably get a set of drag radials. But considering those are not too good for daily driving, maybe just get an extra set of wheels for the rear with the DR's and only bust them out for the track. I run Potenza S-03's (91Z) and RE730's (IROC) on the street, very happy with them, but they wouldn't ever hook like a set of DR's.
Go to tirerack.com and start by doing comparsions & ratings and prices of various brands of performance tires. So far the choices made suck in my opinion. Do the research.
I just put a set of the goodyears(F1 gs d3) on mine and I love them Real sticky. And nice ride also. handles like it on rails. I will try to attach a pic. They look real cool to. I got them for 168.0 out the door.

The GS-D3s are increadable tires...do your research at tirerack etc. You will fall in love with them, but that is if you can find them. I had a heck of a time finding mine but it was well worth the hastle.

The tires are Sumitomo HTR-Z II in 245/45/17. For your information:
Sumitomo & Goodyear are a joint venture in making
tires and Goodyear just copied the design and increased the price per tire on the GS-D3.

I use the Sumitomo HTR-Z. I don't know what kind of power you have, but with 220 rear wheel hp in my Formula 350, I could launch them hard (after a burnout) with no spin. None. Made a nice smooth 14.2.

i just looked at the goodyears and the sumitomos.
the pics show them to have a different tread pattern, and they also seem to rate a little less than the good years.
the pricing on the sumitomos is excellent for what they are rated though. you have all given me some great options to look at.
tiretrack.com seems pretty informative. they have a poor selection on wheels, but i have found some at superbuytires.com that i like. the local tire places here suck, so online shopping is my best bet. keep em coming guys, your so helpful!
