Baer (pbr) rear brake problem(lca reloc bracket hiting)

so i got my brake upgrade from baer today and i installed the fronts no problem so far. the rears are a diffrent story....

i have the 12 " pbr's going on the rear from bear brakes and i also have lca relocation brackets from spohn and the hit on the bracket. the pic may not show it well but the e brake bracket hits the lca relco bracket. i indexed as described ion baers instruction is it right or what. this really sucks i will have to call em in the morning to get the story on how to fix.

can the caliper be indexed behind and above instead of behind and below the axle? or did the send me the wrong caliper or is the normally a problem with relocation brackets.
thanks jeff

well i found this on the baer web site faq, i tell ya their directions suck for the money spent it could be more that one lame page.

"from the site"
Where is the best position on the rotor to install my calipers?
Although there is actually no performance function related to the location or “clocking” of the caliper on the rotor, it is always necessary to install the caliper so that the bleeder valve on the caliper is facing upwards. All Baer systems are configured in this fashion, the only place you will find this any different is if the installer has made an error.

This is critical to ensure that all the air escapes out of the caliper as you bleed your brake system. Failure to install the caliper this way may result in a soft or non-existent pedal from tiny air bubbles trapped within the caliper.

Cut that bracket's long bolt off and don't use the steel vibration isolator that goes there...that's the 4th gen brake design.

the bolt could be removed or cut down for sure. whats the vibration isolator?

there is no other wat to index this kit it is one way only so the faq on baer is no good either.

Unless you swapped backing plates from side to side, no...but then the brake lines wouldn't route correctly and the calipers would be on the leading side of the rear.

It happens even with the right brakes for these cars, when you put the reloc brackets on. The thirdgen parking brake bracket needs a little corner cut off to avoid interference.

Looks like you need to do a similar thing... cut off that bracket piece with the bolt, and maybe shave off the corner of the bracket the cable goes through.

thanks for the help. for others info the rear mounting plate that comes in this kit is a one way only mount. it is indexed to fit.

well more looking and there is no way trimming the e brake bracket wil get the needed clearance this blows it looks like the only way is to trim a notch in the lower part of the lca reloc bracket. i think this will be ok since i am using the higher holes and it looks like i only need about 1" 1/2 to make it clear. If i knew i was going to have this problme i would of not put the reloc bracket on in the first place i hate that nothing fits right.

see any problem with notching?

I would only consider that as a very last resort.

Looks to me like no matter what, even without the LCARB, that caliper wouldn't really fit right. Keeping in mind that a 4th gen caliper sits about 1-3/4" outboard of where it has to sit on one of these cars.

Any possibility you can get that parking brake bracket for a thirdgen, instead of the 4th gen one?

well i have the orig calipers and the brackat mounts completley diffrent and has the dumbell weight on it so that would probally be worse. if i nibble the lca reloc i think i should be fine but it realy blows. these are the 12" rotors and pbr's if no reloc brackets it would be a simple bolt on. even baer said when i talked to them i would need to trim the reloc bracket a bit. wish they would of told me that first......oh well.

oh and once i cut that long screw it showed how far off it really is and the bolt is way in there, and it will need room to move for pad wear i sure don;t want that to bind on the rear some day down the road
