* NEED ASAP * - Will Torque Thrust ]['s (17) fit P275 tires??

I was going to get the Torque Thrust ]['s in 16" and the stock P245/r50/16 cause I read on here that 255 tires won't fit the front without rubbing on full turns.

If I got the Torque Thrust ]['s 17x9 (stock suspension, stock everything) and P275/40/17) will those fit with NO PROBLEMS on BOTH front and rear of those rims??

And how much will stick OUT of the car?

Anyone have any pictures of exactly what this would look like (this combination) to see what the extension of the tire from the body of the car would look like?

I am buying the new tires and rims TOMORROW (Saturday, Feb 19th, 2005) so I need to know this before then. :-)

Thanks.

Car: 1 68 bird, 2 87 birds, a 92 bird...
Engine: carb'ed 305 in the 87, yuck...
Transmission: 700R4, for now....
If you didn't already buy them.... 17x9.5 with a 5.5" backspacing will perfectly fit 275/40/17's on all four corners. And they won't stick out at all. Of course, they don't offer them with that backspacing so they need to be custom made. but, I know from experience, they work just fine if you get them....

I got them installed (P275/r40/17) tires and 17x8" TT ]['s.

They were not sure if it would work. They said it SHOULD be ok. Stock suspension and at full wheel turn, there is so little room between the bottem edge of the front wheel to the back of the rim backing that you can BARELY wedge your 1 finger between them.

Is it supposed to be THAT TIGHT on yours? (before the 2" drop)?? It doesn't appear to have rubbed but it sure is close!

I'll be sending before and after pics today...

Could you go bigger with the rubber? The tires seem kinda low for the wheel well and the rim difference.

BIGGER than 275?? I didn;t want it sticking out of the wheel and didn't have 18's.

Can you get them custom made for 18x9.5 with a 5.5" backspacing, if so where did you call to get the custom made wheels.
What is the Offset and do they come in chrome?

Tires: I was in need of new tires for all 4 wheels as my Yokohama P245/50/R16's were now in need of replacement. So I replaced them with brand new Hankook Ventus H104 P275/40/R17's front and rear tires with "V" groove treading.

Rims: I also ordered and had 17x8 Torque Thrust ][ highly polished rims.

I am SO impressed with the look. Gave the car, in my opinion, that missing touch.

Everyone have always said to do something with the rims... I am sure glad I did.

Here are pics:

Now that looks awesome... i love the new wheels. Your paint is mint!

All it needs now is clear side markers

What is the offset, backspacing, tire size front and rear you are using on those wheels?
Do you have a problem with rubbing and do you use spacers, if so what size in the front and rear?

What type of screens do you have in the hood? Can you post a close up?
Thanks: David

I don't currently have any rubbing but it is VERY CLOSE. In fact, you can hardly wedge 1 finger between.

The rims are 17x8 (I don't know anything else about that).

Rather than going offtopc on the hood, email me camaro92@telus.net and I'll send you a pic of the grill

I'm sure you could get them custom made in any size you want. They came direct from american racing through town fair tire. Chrome is definitely a possibility however at over $300 a wheel without the chrome I'd hate to pay for it....
