Any other company lower 2 inch besides intrax
? How is intrax lowering springs? i was going to use them cause tpiroc has 18"z06's with spacers and i want that no wheel to fender gap look. Is there any other spring better then intrax with the look i want? $179.95
Weight jacks and custom height/rate springs would work. And you'd be able to adjust the ride height after the fact, and choose your spring rates. Check out Ground Control.

Haven't done a search yet and I'm sure I'll be told to do so first but...
What exactly are weight jacks and how do they work?

No problem, I dont think the search works very good anymore anyway (seemed to have lost all posts since 2003 and earlier). Weight jacks are a spring perch that sits under the springs. So the spring is installed in the factory location, but the spring itself is much shorter than stock, and sits in this spring perch. This perch has 3 parts, a lower part that sits in the A-Arm and never moves, a big threaded screw through the middle, and a top part that the spring itself sits in. When you turn the big threaded screw through the middle (accessable through the hole in the A-Arm from under the car), it moves the top part up, raising the ride height of the car. Same thing in reverse, lowers the top part and lowers the car. Same idea for the rear weight jacks, different equipment, but same concept. I haven't measured my Weight Jacks, but I'd say you have a good 3-4 inches of adjustability there, probably even more. So with the right spring and the weight jacks, you could have a setup that you can control, with the option of dropping the car really low, or keeping it stock height. And the best part is that you can choose your spring rates.
I'm running these wight jacks in conjunction with 2" drop spindles on my 91 Z and its working out great. I dont have any exact measurements versus stock, but I'm assuming a total 3" to 3.5" drop (pic in the sig was before the spindles). The wheels tuck. The weight jacks were perfect because I was able to try a bunch of different ride heights and get it right to the point where the car does not bottom out, or contact the fender at full lock, but its as low as possible. Wouldnt have been able to do it without the weight jacks. You dont need drop spindles to get the same stance I have, but they help with the geometry issues when lowered this much. I'm getting ready to install another set of Weight Jacks on my IROC-Z, plan to drop that car about 2.5"

I was too slow to post the option first but, yes weight jackers are the way to go. When you lower with springs the ride height is not always the same from side to side. With weight jackers you have almost infinite adjustability. The ones that ground control sells come with Eibach springs in any stiffnes you want. I am waiting for mine to arrive hopefully this week. I did a search about these before the big crash and came up pretty empty, I searched both ground control and weight jackers. The best place to go is their web site.

That sounds really useful. What kind of spring rates do you run? Are they different than stock numbers? (like coil overs use something like around 200lb/in?)
Are the lower perches in the a-arms welded in? Is anything welded in? Do you have pictures of your install?

Sorry no pics. I'll get some soon (been meaning to do that for a while). They have both weld in and non weld in kits. All my kits are non weld in, so no welding required. Ground Control can recommend spring rates for you, give em a call. Stock is around 600# front, 100# rear. For my Z28 I'm running 700# front, 150# rear springs, good setup for the street. For my IROC I plan to run 800# or 900# fronts, and 200# or 250# rears.
You can choose what you want. You can get OEM spring rates if you want. They will make the springs to your specs. Call GC and talk to them. They will be able to answer all your questions and give you prices.

I ordered 700/175 it all depends an how much you are going to drop and what the car has on it now(sway bar size etc. ). The lower the car the stiffer the springs need to be.

tenzo R makes 2-2.5 inch lowering springs for thirdgens. dont know anything about them but they are cheap at 150bucks or so
Eibach Sportlines are advertised 1.8" drop. I dont know how low Global West springs drop the car, but you might want to look into that as well. Other than that, Dropzone, Intrax, and Tenzo-R make 2" or more drop springs, but no idea on the rates. You can find em on Ebay.
Appearance wise, these Ground Control weight jacks are only for people that want to be able to adjust the ride height after the fact, to give the car a certain stance they like (slammed, even, or raked).

I might be going a little off track but have you concidered dropped spindles?

With this you can retain the proper geometry of your suspension while lowering the front end.

If you want an easy and cheap 2" drop all around go with DropZone springs. They are $99 complete at Ebay.

Do a search for them on this forum. You will find lots of people commenting on them. Most like them very much. Springs are an opinion part.

I've got a set of dropzones you can buy for $ plus shipping. I had them in the car for 5 - 6 months. I decided to go with Eibach Pro kit. Heck for another $ plus shipping you can have the KYB gr2 struts and shocks that I put in and removed in conjuction with the DZ's. Let me know if you are interested. Someone may as well get use out of them.
