If you find one in a junkyard or something and the car still has a column in it, just turn the wheel and count the revolutions. I know that most GTA's had them if not all, and I'm pretty sure it was part of the WS6 package. You should post on the history forum for a quicker response.

look for a car with a power steering box that has a "Z" casted into the top of it. I have a 1990 RS TBI and was suprised that my car has one of these quick ratio boxes.

I have one of those boxes for sale. Just email me if you're interested. The one I have has the Z on the top. It's an XH code. No slack and I just painted it.

The cast in Z has nothing to do with the internals of the box. Please see this thread:

RBob.

P.S. An HX/XH box is a fast ratio box.

I didn't think so, but thought I'd metion it. BTW, is there only 1 adjustment to these boxes? That allen and nut on top? Also, the box is sold now if anybody was wondering about it.

Two adjustments. The plug held by the large flange nut at the input shaft end of the box then the allen/nut as mentioned on top.

true.

Both third gen's I've owned had the 'Z' cast into the box, one was quick ratio, the other was not...
