Any good ideas for securing a spindle, drivers side, for a 1988 firebird gta
all the local shops don't sell them , the junkyards, so far don't have one
and I need to know if I have single or dual piston calibers.....any and all help/comments would be appreciated.......jack m.

 

if your rpo code has 1LE in it, you have the dual pistons (stock) and the 12in rotor. You can tell by taking your tire off and looking. Dual piston calipers sit in a 'basket' that slides over the rotor. Single pistons dont. They bolt directly to the spindle 'ears'.

I dont even know if the dealership sells spindles for these cars. Just be patient and look in the slavage yards. Most of the time, they have been removed at the slavage yard because they are in the way of something someone else wanted before you got there. So be sure to look INSIDE the car for them (i.e. in the trunk, on the floor boards and in the back seat).

 

Jack, I have an extra driver's side spindle, but I'm not sure if it will be the right one. I bought a set for my '86 Iroc because my passenger side one was bent, so I still have the driver's side one. If interested and you can find out if it will be correct, email me and I can send some pics.
