Whenever I come to a stop, right before I get this pop from the rear end? I am totally clueless as to what this would be?? Sounds like a ball joint pop kind of, but it is definatley coming from the rear. Anybody have any ideas, It's driving me nutz!! I have Edelbrock lower control arms, spohn LCA relocation brackets, spohn adj. panhard bar, hotchkis springs, kyb shocks, I think thats it. I am guessing it has to have something to do with the suspension. Mabey cause I took my rear spring isolators out?

 

My trans am used to do the same thing befor it was wrecked. I think it ended up being the sway bar end links were bent and they would catch and then suddenly just let go, there was no spacer. They were pretty messed up.

yea there is always mysterious sounds in our third gen's. i would suggest crawling under your car if u can with out jacking it up and push/pull on everything. chances are taht you will find something loose. its hard to say with out looking because there is so many moving parts back there... good luck

 

On topic, I have a 'thump' in my rear end. The weirdest part of it is, I can have my car sit all day - no driving, no nothing, and for whatever reason I happen to be around it (washing it or something), and all of a sudden it will go 'thump'. Very quiet, hollow sounding...

It has done this since the day I got it. I just chalked it up to 'gremlins' as I could never find anything visibly wrong...

 

car is possessed probly, by satan or something bro, take to your nearest exorcist before it fully engulfs your car

 

check your front and rear suspension for worn parts.

Your thump sounds like the gas tank pressure relief valve, mine does the same thing.
