Replacing ball joints..
..What does it involve? What special tools will I need if any? Thanks for any suggestions.
pretty straight forward job, your manual will have step by step and specs. you'll need a ball joint press, auto zone et.al. rents them, pickle fork, common hand tools. you might want to look at other parts you'll deal with along the way you might want to replace while you're there, like sway bar bushings, tie rod ends, etc.

Thanks for the info. One question though, what is the "etc." imply at the end of the last sentence. As in, what else is there to look at replacing there?
Thanks again

I think that pretty much covers it cormyr, thanks. I will likely tackle some of those bushings, which brings up a question. I have installed bushings in Malibu GP cars before - not a a road car - however, we had to use a vice in order to force the bushings in. Am I looking at a similar scenario with the trans am as well?
thanks again for the input.

yep, press in ball joints. i did all the bushings etc at the same time so i just took both control arms to my machinist and had him press everything in. saved alot of hassle.

don't bother with the pitman arm if your doing a front end rebuild, its a non wear item, do the idler arm forsure though
