Hawks K-Member ???
Well, since my last thread obviously was deleted. Anyone know what size bolts go with the K-member??
Not to mention. Do you think there is a conflict of interest when a board moderator is also a board sponsor.

I also replied to the first post. I find it hard to believe that a post could be "accidently" deleted. I hope it didn't have to do with the comment I made. I'll ask again just to see: Since Spohn is supposedly building the k members from Hawk's, will his upcoming k member be the same? Is it based off of it it any way?
Lastly, I did a search for you and the only specs I could find were:
12m X 1.75 X 30MM
Good luck!

No offense man but I am so tired of hearing how great it will be. Been hearing that for two years now. I would hope it would be the best design possible with all the time it is taking. Should be ready by what 2010.

jt, did you find any other specs on the bolts other than what I turned up?

That's the right size. The rear bolts on the stock crossmember (the short ones) are listed as M12X1.75X31. GM part# 14074097, list price $7.66 each (ouch). On my PA k-member, all the new bolts that came with it were the same size as the two factory rear ones.

Yeah, it seems those are the ones I will need. I have a few parts cars right now so may just take them off of those cars. Thanks a bunch for the info. Now if I could just get my "Spohn built Hawks LS1 tubular K-member" in I can put my car back together. LS1 is sitting there patiently waiting for the transplant with its new COMP valvetrain.

No, he isn't coping PA's at all. It is his own design. Boxes for the a-arms mounts, provisions for the brake lines, and support braces.
The pics he sent me and I'm not sharing.

What is the big secret? Why cant we get a preview of what it looks like? I have been waiting for one of these from Sphon since I have been a member of TGO. I think this is the most anticipated product of all time at this point!

Things have to remain secret in this business because during the testing and refinement process of making a part (R &D or research and development), a design idea can quickly be stolen and duplicated buy another curent vendor and released proir to Spohn getting his inventory readyso he can handle the sudden outcry for demand on his product. BEING FIRST TO SELL A SPECIFIC DESIGN IS EVERYTHING IN THE PARTS BUSINESS. Its how one gains or loses reputation. Thats why it needs to be secret.

SixtyV6 I have not seen the Roadtech k-member in years please post a clear pic of the Roadtech K-member I want to compare it to the other members out there now.
It was the best design by far so far I have ever seen. He just did not have the funds and means to get these to take off. I darn near bought the jig from him about 4 years ago- I debated it, but I was just not ready to take on such a venture- I still don't quite yet have the time or space.
The Roadtech version had a very solid double cross tube desgn and lots of gussets.

Here's the thing though Dean.
I bet the road tech is approching the weight of the stocker. With the double tube design, you are getting closer to the demisions of the stocker.
So Whats the benifit? You spend all of this money on a part, that weights the same as stock, is near the size of stock, and hope that it is as rigid as stock? I guess the lightning of your pocket book may give you that extra .001.
This has been my gripe with k-members from the start. None of them so far have come close to what the factory peice does. By the time someone designs one that is as durable, and stong as the stock peice, it weights as much or more. I want to see what Spohn does, and especialy the weight of it. If Steve's other parts are an indiciation, I can only image what a properly built k-member by him is going to weight.

Dewey it is about half the weight of a stock one with the spring mounts. With the coil over setup its a few pounds lighter.
