When installing my Spohn torque arm......question

Ok so I am installing my spohn TQ arm and bolted up the crossmember. Totally fine. Next the actual arm, bolt that to the moser 12 bolt. All good and dandy after motivating it to go in a bit. Ok so far so good. Mind you I allready have the UMI trailing arms on there allready. Ok so now comes the time to bolt the two togeather right. TQ arm to the x-member. The front pivot joint, whatver you wanna call it isn't lining up too great. Close, but not great. I was pretty tired and freezing by this point, so I just pushed it and tossed the bolt in. Mt trailing arms are adjustable. Is there a chance that my trailing arms are uneaven and that this is making the TQ arm "aim" the wrong way. Sounds like the reason the damn thing is off. But just wanted to get a second opinion. Thanks guys.

I had stock LCA's on at the time, and it was a hair off to the side, but not alot. If you look under the car, the drive shaft doesnt go strait front to rear either, its a hair "offside".

If it was really wack, then I would suspect your trailing arms are not same length. Could take a tape measure and measure center bolt to center bolt. If they were that far off, it should pick it up doing it this "half ***" way. True way would be to take both off and compare side by side.

yeah, funny thing is that when i did instal them I held them side by side and made sure. I even counted the threads on the adjusting bolt on both. But who knows. I am thinking the hair that they are off, if they are, might be multiplying itself by the long distance away the mount is. So even if it is just a hair by the arms, it is an inch over by the mount, or more.

Not too sure what to do. Maybe the actualy arms are no the same length, my a tinny bit. and the thread count is off. I am thinking of just onbolting them and the pivot mount and letting it line up perfectly, then adjust the arms to what they have to be to bolt up. I dunno.

Kind of a strange problem.

You said you went ahead and bolted it together. Have you drove it yet? Driving strait(or same as it was)? Or now is it pulling, etc?

I would not go by thread count, but trying to run a screw driver, or pipe of same dia thru both ends and make sure they are same.

You need to keep the rear mounting bolts loose until you have the front connection hooked up and tight. Tighten the rear bolts last.

Oh Hi Steve. Thanks for the tip. In acctuallity I was the one at fault. I stupidly installed it upside down.

The part is great and went in just fine after I flipped it. The only thing that I have a question with is that the front mount did not line up very well with the x-member. I was able to push the mount enough so that I could bolt it up.

How do you suggest i make sure this is all lined up correctly?

Thanks

You might *have* to give it a push if you have old engine mounts. It's a three-point mounting system and if your engine mounts have turned to old, moldy, smushed, oil-soaked rubber goo, all it would take was an eighth-inch of shift to move that tailshaft half an inch or so to the left or right...

I experienced this first hand but didnt worry about it until this fall when I started checking around after jacking up the car for this winter's mods. Sure enough, that fancy schmancy motor of mine is sitting on rooted-out 21 year old motor mounts.

mine are new poly mounts. I guess there is a chance that they are installed a bit ascew. I never thought of that. i guess I will attempt to think of a way to have it all line up correctly
