South Side Machine Lift Bar Kit........

Does anybody know who makes a kit like this, now that they were either bought out or went out of business? I have this setup on my 85' Firebird right now and love it. I am trying to locate this same setup for another project. Any information would be appreciated. In case your not familure with it, it does away with the torq arm and lower control arms. Almost like a ladderbar setup. Kit comes with frame ties, a rear crossmember, lift bars, and driveshaft safetyloop.

Thanks 91drag, I have been checking ebay to hoping to find another set.

Bluebeast, acording to the instructions you dont have to have them on there. The lift bars take the place of them (lower control arms) and the torqarm.

When I put my southside bars on I called southside thay told me to leave the lower control arm on run 50/50 rear shocks and 70/30 front struts.

Once the lift bars are welded to the rear axle, theres really no scence to keep the lower control arms. The bars have no affect. Mine are off and leaves straight. Check out my post on Pontiac engine swap, jabird00's Firebird with pics. You can see the lift bars in action.

Looks good and I like the pontiac motor. Maby thay work just the same with or with out the lower controll arms on. I can tell you when I bought mine I remember calling them and asking about the lower controll arms and they said to leave them and gave me the shock rates .they look useless under the car. but best 60 ft with a 28/10.5 slick was 1.40

ross, same here 1.39-1.40 best for me was 1.37 60 ft., thats with 29.5 10.5's . The picture with the burnout was before I minitubbed it. The one with me leaving is the now minitubbed, shortened the 9" to make it look better.

bad90rs, I dont think I can use those without the frame ties? Im not sure if anybody makes them like the ones you need for the lift bars? The rear crossmember is to be welded to the fram ties that come with the kit. But then again im not sure how other frame ties connect.

I dont have that changeover kit you are talking about. I have a Turbo 400 Trans. and had to make my own transmission crossmember. I had to fab up alot of things to get my car the way it is today. I even made my own engine and frame mounts, that was bofore Indian Adventures started making them.

Thanks for the compliment Bluebeast.

Jabird forgot to mention bitching car!! Always like the pontiac and olds combos. Had a friend years ago had Lemans with a 455 that he told everyone it was a 400 with stock intake and ex manifolds the car went bottom 12s on protrack tiresand boy could it 60 foot. Made some good money with that car.

Sounds good ross. I have always been a Pontiac Man myself. My last car was a 70' TA with 455 HO in it. I wish I still had that car.
