performance suspension

Well my 87 formula has the performance suspension options what does that really mean the car has suspension wise that is better then cars without the option. What parts should i keep off this car to put on my 91 v6 birds suspension to improve it?

WS6 you mean?

fatter front sway bar
maybe a thicker rear bar
stiffer springs, fronts for sure, not sure about backs

I don't think it would have the wonderbar...

is this car totalled or something? A reason not to keep it on that car? Check the size of the sway bars, and swap if you care to. Springs will be stiffer on the formula, 'specially compared to the v-6, but they're older so...

i doubt its ws6

Well the car says it has performance suspension it says nothing about it having ws6. The car is not totalled its fine actually just has a blown 305 and i rather have my 91 then the 87 so im parting out the 87 and i want the suspension if its better then the stock v6 suspension.

ws6

Ok so i just found out from a friend that all formulas have this performance suspension and it is a ws6 w/ the stiffer springs and sway bars. So i should use the sway bars and springs or should i just you the sway bars because the springs are meant for v8 not v6?

I don't think you could get the WS6 package with a V-6. I think that you have the regular suspension of the Formula or Trans-Am. You could look for the RPO code in the glove box for WS6.

I think you're confused me leigh.

greenbird; take the springs and sway bars. the stiffer springs on the formula (meant for a v8) will just stiffen up the ride of your v6 car, which is what you're going for right? stiffer, harsher, better, handling?

I would just grab the sway bars and not bother with the springs.. Why swap in old worn out springs?

If you have a v6 leave it alone. putting the v8 springs and bar in it will really mess it up. The ride height will be radically higher. It will look like a 4X4 without the v8 to compress the springs.

The Sway bars are matched to the weight of the car and the coil spring rates. While you can make some improvements by changing the sway bars just swapping in a set from a v8 car would probably put the car out of balance And make it push even more than it does now going into a corner.

Do a search for understeer and oversteer if you want to understand more of what effect the sway bar change would have.
