Will a P235/60R15 tire fit on my RS wheel?
When I get new tires (hoping to get Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS by the way) I want to get wider tires. I have the same size tires that originally came on the car (can't remember off the top of my head), and I want to change to P235/6015 tires. I don't know if my wheel is wide enough for them. Can anyone help?

Assuming your wheels are 15x7s (not sure on Camaros), 235s should fit with no problems. Pontiac offered P235/60R15s as optional tires on the Firebird in 1985 and 1986. As long as your wheels are 15x7s, you shouldn't have any problems.

Yeah it'll fit, I've run 235's on the 15x7 wheels. But I never did the math to check the overall tire height of a 235/60/15, maybe look into that before ordering if you're concerned. On a side note I've used those Tiger Paws in the past, they aren't really that good of a tire in my opinion (just a FYI).

Then what tire would you recommend? My dad uses those on his truck and he likes them, he used to use Kelly Chargers but they discontinued the truck version and he switched to the Tiger Paws. I think when I looked on Kelly's site they didn't have them in the size I wanted.
EDIT: Nevermind, I just went back to Kelly's site and found that size. Maybe I'll go for those then.

the 235/60/15 was an optional tire on all 88+ rs's and z28's that came with 15" wheels *yes, some z28's did.* but please don't get a truck tire, the Kelly's don't handle very well. if your looking for a cheap tire, i'd go with a pep-boys special...Futura Super Sport GLS. all 4 can be had mounted and balanced for right at $380.

Yes they fit. It is in fact an excellent size tire for that size wheel; much better than the 215/65 that came on it. About the same outer diameter, but more than ¾" more tread.

Put in the stock size for your car and the new size ya want to get.

stock size tires on these cars are 26" tall. the 235/60/15 tire is 26.1" tall. the series has nothing to do with the overall hieght. it is a representation of % of the width of the tire for the sidewall size. a 275/60/15 tire is 28" tall, but a 235/60/15 is only 26" tall, see what i'm saying?
275-width
60-60% of 275 =sidewall height
on a 16" wheel, your correct, you'd want a 50 series, but the 15's will need a 60 series.

IIRC, 235/60/15 is whats on mine right now. Although I havent drove it in a month.
I'm also lowered about 1.75" or so with no rubbing.

Just put 255/70/15's on my a 15x7 rim, stock height RS. Sounds ridiculous, and it is...but there is no rubbing, and it fills up the wheel well nice. Stepping the profile down to a 255/60/15.
Just to show there shouldnt be any concerns with rubbing on 235/60

Most of the guy's with 15" rim's around here run 235/60R15's at the front and 255/60R15's on the rear, they swear by the better handlnig they seem to get and it does look much better then the stock 215/65R15's

When I had the factory RS wheels I ran P235/60 BFG Radial T/A's and they worked very well and made the car look better IMHO...

235/50/15 on the fronts in this pic(narrower 205/50 i think in the rear for winter). I think 60 series would like a little *******ish myself, imo I'd stay away from that size if I were you

gf's car has 235/60/15s on her car and they look nice and handle a lot better compared to the 215/65 what was on there before...Plus she gets to keep a tire that fits the factory specs and doesnt throw off the speedo.
I dont even know where you found a 235/50...

Wow way to be an ignorant ****! I dont know how it "doesnt look right", nor do I know how the tire isnt made for the rim as you stated, so please elaborate. My sidewall is only 6mm shorter than your g/f's, hardly noticeable from a small picture, so I doubt you can see any huge difference, or atleast enough to say it looks retarded. I suggest you see an eye doctor ASAP before posting any further
And sorry, I made an error, the tires are actually 225/60, not 235's. The car has been put away for the past year and a half and I thought I had 235's on it, not 225's. My apologies.

Ok a 235/50 has got to be somewere around 24.5 inches tall. As opposed to a 26.1" of 235/60 measures out to. Stock is 26"...Like i said it doesnt look right, its too small of a tire look at the wheel gap and the stance...that tire is not made for the rim. You said a 60 series tire was *******ish so i said i think urs is retarded? Big deal. Oh and now ur saying you have a 225/60 which size is it again?
Sully91Rrs - your car has a very nice stance with those tires, looks good.
Also i can notice the difference of a 1/4" on my car now so i can definently notice over an inch difference in your tires compared to a 235/60.

I have 2 almost new 295/60/15 that I`m taking off that have a few cuts on the side of the tread. Look new. I`d take $100 for the pair if that would work for ya? I just ran them at the drags and ran em 105mph so the cuts are nothing to worry about.
they are 26 tall

I have 235/60-15's Tiger Paw GTS on the factory 15X7 wheels at all 4 corners on my '83 Z28.I'm very happy with the ride and the dry/wet weather handling/braking.I know they aren't really high performance tires but they are an excellent choice IMHO.

It sounds like you still haven't decided yet. As people have already said, the 235/60-15 is the correct size to upgrade from the standard 215/65-15. It was an optional tire on the Trans Am in 1983 and was a black sidewall Goodyear Eagle GT.
It seems that some people like putting a larger size on the rear for looks, handling, etc., and maybe that's what you want, too. But before you do that, remember you won't be able to rotate your tires without first popping them off the rims to swap them. That's something to think about.

I'm getting the same size tire all around, I don't see much point in putting bigger tires in the rear on a V6 anyway. Now that I know they'll fit, I'm definately getting the 235/60/15s. Thanks for the help everyone.
