Hey guys, I am just about ready to get the GTA on the road and I know I am in need of some new tires. I was wondering if anyone knew what the largest tire size I could run on my 16X8 GTA wheels without having any problems with rubbing. The tires on there now are 245/50/16 and I wanted to know if it was possible to go any bigger. Also if anyone has any reccomendations on specific tires that would also be appreciated. Thanks Mike

i have 255/50/16 on the back and 245/50/16 on front. g-force sports i have are good for handling and not bad for off-the-line traction. hope this helps.

there is no bigger than 255 for a 16" wheel. - Other than race-only compound tires, truck sizes, and the mega-junk 295/50/16 Radial T/A BFG(decent 255's hook harder) which is too wide for a 8" wheel.
- and yes, several people run 295/50/15 on 15x8 wheels, but with 1" less side wall, it would really be a screw-up.

bfg made the comp t/a's in 275 50 16, sobs discontinued the tire for the G-string line
run 255's or 245's all the way around, 255's fit up front. Then you can rotate. the extra 10mm isnt worth not rotating.

- you can't rotate GTA/Iroc wheels so why bother? The extra couple miles you'll get from rotating isn't worth having them dis-mounted, re-mounted and re-balanced.

I work at atire shop so it is to me, but, it isnt just the tread life but if you are running either bad or agressive alignment it will help fight feathing, cupping, etc. If they arent directional rotate side to side. Also, most shops have lifetime balancing etc. And just pay for the mount dismount every year or 10 K miles, yes I know it isnt the 6K reccomended but it will make a difference, especially if you drive it hard. The 245's seem to be the more common size, but an I dea is to run some decent tires up front and some nice Nittos or bfg DR in the rear, no worrys about rotating then! =)

you dismount the rear tires and mount them on the front rims, vice versa, we do that for alot of people with birds and camaros. pretty common actually. Do it on trucks with dualys, outside tire to inside tire, inside tire to front, front tire to outside. Some people even do it with their spare if they have a full size spare.

..after working at a tire shop myself, I still wouldn't worry about it. With a good tire and alignment, the dollars spent for dismount/remount/balance isn't justified in the end.
- also, I personally will never rotate side to side. Everytime I've ever seen it or tried it the belts shift/come apart due to the tire going the opposite direction.

In the Camaro-Mustang Challenge we run 255 50 16 Toyo Proxes RA1s on our GTA wheels. Works great!
