i have stripped my lug bolts.i am clueless on what to do now.how can i get these bolts off?.the tire went flat so i really need to get this tire off and get the spare on.its my daily driver.

I assume you have the wheel off? Are you talking front or back? If it's the front, just remove the rotor and ppund out all of the old studs. There available at GM or other parts store. Not expensive. There also splined so all you need to do is line them up and smack them back in. I don't think your the first person to strip the lugs

Oops....sorry. Apparently I don't read to well. You said bolts....not the studs. Do you have access to an Impact gun? That would probably spin them up fast enough to get them off.

 

Last one I had like that, I took about a 7/16" drill and drilled through the nut and then far enough into the stud to where the nut fell off; and then just swapped the stud.

Absolutely no chance of damaging the wheel that way.

 

alright ill try to get ahold of somethin.i had new tires put on the back and then i got a flat.they were put on with air guns i think.ive managed to get them all off except for one which is about as round as your gonna get.anyway,thanks alot guys.

 

...wait a minute, did you strip the stud or just strip the hex off the nut?

 

i did just that on my trans am when i got a flat, i tried to get a lug nut splitter but that didnt work, i we ended up getting a socket that was slightly smaller than the nut size itself, hammer it on, and twist it off, then forget the socket as the nut is now embedded in it, haha. kind of had no choice, i was in the middle of nowhere on a old country road in the mountains...

 

Just checking, but are you sure you don't have a locking lug nut?

 

get a stripped nut/bolt extractor that will fit the lug, ive done this. the lug is already shot so these will remove it. they are pretty cheap and work well.

 

Craftsman damaged bolt/nut removers work very well. There are several different size sets you can get.

 

i stripped the hex off the stud, i tried to chisel it and that only made worse.so now i think im gonna have to take a torch to it.

Just get a lugnut remover.

They come with two reversible sockets to fit almost all applicable sizes and will fit into almost all rims to allow it to be pounded on and then use a 1/2 inch breaker bar to get it looses.

They are made longer and lsighly thinned than conventional "turbo" sockets for removing stripped nuts/heads.

Even has a handy steel rod to pound the lugs of on a vice when your done loosing it.

A friendly dealership mechanic would prolly even help you out if you poked around somewhere friendly.
