torque arm for a low 12 to high 11 car ?

i have allready sacrificed an edelbrock adjustable torque arm (and drive shaft) to certain test and tune road, it looked like a dna strand i have never seen that before. i had a gmpp alum. d-shaft which held up with slicks, this happened with drag radials. i was thinking that this may be overkill but i was considering one of bmr's pieces for cars 10.5 and quicker. the old original has held up thus far, my best 60ft(leaving @2000) has been 1.7x? cant remember off hand. what kind of results could i expect with a serious tqarm do they really help that much.

definitely check out the spohn ta

http://www.spohn.net/category.cfm?categoryid=1047

Should be all you need and it will bolt in with no welding or drilling.

You want a nice solid rear supension for all that power your making and with a 6 speed you already have a strong rear end, maybe try one of his driveshafts as well.

better to be overkill than under.. but a spohn unit will work just as well.. just not the trans mounted one..

I can't remember if I got into the 1.6 range or not but I was at least into the low 1.7 range with a Spohn torque arm when I was still using a torque arm suspension.

According to the Spohn site and the banners, there are cars running into the 9's with a torque arm suspension. A 9 second 1/4 mile means 1.3-1.4 60 foot times.

I have BMR and i think it is a stout piece welds right on to the subframe and works really well.

I cut a 1.6 with the Spohn Torque arm, its not a bad torque arm set up but I sold it to go with a Chris Alston Tunnel mount arm and Drews crossmember for exhaust clearance.

i have spohn solid/poly LCA's allready, i was thinking BMR cause i wanted to support the local boys you know ( thats who i got my rear end from). i'll have to go with whichever one will work with true duals as well, i know some use a different trans x-member. i have the spohn one for a t56 allready. you know this is **** i should've sorted long brfore i did the motor.

i'm gonna checkout both of them.

[QUOTE=jtmiller92;3160678]I cut a 1.6 with the Spohn Torque arm,

which t56 are you using? the one that came with the ls1 ? i noticed your using 4.10's
i have the 93 (m66?) t56 with the lower ratios. 3.33 1st and so on with 3.73's. i feel i should've gone with 4.10's since i use 26-11.50-16 e.t. streets at the track.

Its the stock 02 LS1 T56, love the 4.10's with it but if I get much faster mile per hour wise I may have to go with a taller tire. I was at 6500 in 4th when I went through the traps. Rev Limiter is set at 6800 for the TR224 cam.

can you guys post some pics of the different set-up (jt) in your cars. i personally think i would be fine with a stock mounting type of tq arm. what rpm's are you guys leaving at? i was playing it safe leaving at like 2-2500 when i had the stock rear and tq arm that was when i pulled a 1.7 60 ft.

Here's my torque arm:

There's no rod ends to snap anywhere. It's totally adjustable with shims.

Sorry, I dont have any pics of mine installed and recently sold it for the alston unit. I can try to get pics of it once its installed but it similar to the jegster torque arm with an extra support. I have a strange 12 bolt and was leaving at 3500 to keep it from spinning. My best run of 11.86, they had just prepped the track and it slightly bogged at 3500. I wish I had left at 4000 on that one just to see how well it would have ran.

I'm running 275/35/18 which is stock diameter 25.7".I run the same wheels and tires on the street as i do at the track but drop the tire pressure to about 15PSI in the rear with the drag radials. Yeah, the 1/8th Mile was 7.663 @ 91.174 MPH. The car really pics up alot in the End. As I get better driving the car, i feel it will improve. I think I am losing some time shifting to where i'm not use to the Pro-5.0. Thinking about trying the ripper to see if it feels any better............jt

I am still using the stocker on my Formula, with a poly bushing. My car cuts consistant 1.60's 60 times, with a 1.54 best. I will be changing it, to a custom arm, mainly to remove it from the trans tail housing. A friend of mine, built his own adjustable TQ arm, and crossmember. I will have him do the same for me when he is installing my roll bar in March. I have never had any issues with the stock one, but I am sure it can 60 even better with an aftermarket piece.

thats a wild set up there. wow....theres more to a tq-arm suspension then what i've normally seen on f-bodies. thats what make making a damn choice difficult.
basicially this is what i have for a susp. adj front struts, spohn LCA's, adj poly panhard rod, airbag in rt rear spring.

122mph is hauling *** if you ask me.
