I'm guessing some have the hub centeric(sp) lip and some don't...


anyone know who all makes the ones that do?



oh and did a quick search and I'm sure it was in there somewhere, but I'm at work posting from my sidekick and it takes forever to get thru a bunch of threads.

 

There is a guy on ebay that sells both, search around there. He sells tons of different ones.

Why would you spend more on a hunk of aluminum if you don't have to? I bought two skutle wheel adapters from a member here a while a ago, and I don't see anything "spectacular" about them. I need one more pair still and I will be going with the cat from ebay, completevalue I think is his handle. Good customer service, answered my questions fast.

GM rims are lugcentric, not hubcentric.

even aftermarket alloy rims like prostars and convo-pros are lugcentric.

 

Agreed. Don't be fooled into getting something you don't need. The tapered design of the lugnut centers the spacer/wheel in place.

I was just making sure they had both, I want cheap but want the wheel side to have the ring too... he replied and said they do, so I think I'll be hitting buy now, soon.



from looking at my stock wheels they look hub centric to me. you guys buy what you want, I'll spend75$ over the 55$ ones and get what I think is better. hell I may have even spent the 150$ over the 50$ ones to get what I want.

buying adapters for my car was a mistake, i'm very glad i ended up with wheels that fit correctly.

and yes.. nothing special about the adapters. in fact i had several studs back out on me over time that had to be replaced with $3 bolts. i'd never put them on a any car i own again.

 

How durable are these spacers? I've got a set on my T/A right now. How much abuse will they handle? Would I be safe Drag Racing my 12.sec. T/A with them? How about using them for Autocrossing? For that matter of fact, do they allow you to race at either with these kind of spacers

 

let me say that i have a 87 formula in black primer with the gold magnesium 5 star 01 vette rims and i ordered the aluminum wheel spacers from the guy on ebay... ive had them on for 3 years now and i kick out the *** on just about every turn and dont hold back at all....they have been fine, nice bolts and nice machining.... i even bought a set for my 85 delta 88 lowrider with air bags cause i got a set of phat chrome rims with a nissan altima fwd offset and lug pattern...the ebay guy made me 1.25 spacers that adapted those fwd rims with a metric lug pattern to my chevy pattern...those have been on for almost 2 years also..and the car rides rough and low throwing my geometry all off and im sure stressing the adapters but never a problem.. no loose bolts no vibrations i would recommend them to anyone...

 

I am pretty sure in the NHRA rulebook that there is a comment about wheel spacers. As I recall they are not allowed at all.

I do not have my rule book right now with me but I know they talk about them in it. I think it is under general regulations.

 

Probably a dumb question here, but a 2" wheel spacer? I'm guessing you have to throw in some rediculously long wheel studs don't you? I KNOW there isn't 2" of thread sticking out. I don't think it's that great having a wheel stud that long. I can see why NHRA might disallow that.

 

The spacers are drilled and have their own studs attached. The spacer bolts to your hubs,and the wheel bolts to the spacer. Google wheel spacers for a picture, thatmight explain it better.

 

Those are usually called wheel adapters. Even if it is the same bolt pattern.

A wheel spaces is exactly what it sounds like. A spacer that goes between the axle flange and wheel.

 

ok, well when people in this board talk about wheel spacers... that is what they mean. NO one says adapters on this board. most people know exactly what you're talking about when you say spacer. You guys are getting overly technical on a question the thread poster answered himself. I think this one can be considered "dead." Or wait, maybe deceased is a better word, lol, since we're really getting precise around here!

I just bought a set of hub centrics for the back from ez accessory on ebay. They are too snug to fit over the hub. I'm having a buddy machine out the diameter more so they fit. Just an FYI

 

since theres no spec for the center hub, dont be suprised if they wont fit right after you swap rotors...

 

ya i also got the hubcentric ones but mine wont fit at all 89blues can you post pics of them so i can see if they even sent me the right ones
