You may need to put a k member in for ease of installing a rack, heres a few I know of..

Re: Brand New Rack & Pinions.
ok so are these tubular k-members just for drag cars or will they help with cornering? Straight line racing or something more like auto x .. I just noticed some were listed for drag cars.

Well, I would think most are geared toward drag racing....the pinto rack is a manual, no power assist. I cannot think of a power rack kit but I`m sure it is out there. I would think it would work for auto X if you had a good steer ratio. I have 2 guys with racks in there cars that live near me and 1 is a dedicated race car the other is a "pro street" cruises and shows and some racing. I want to install one, I have a manual gear box as of now.

Re: Brand New Rack & Pinions.
Well since these cars don't come with a rack & pinion setup in the first place, there's not going to be "new" ones floating around someplace, like you could go to VatoZone and buy it like a water pump or something.
Next, since the cars didn't come with them, there's nowhere to mount one to.
Third, since the cars didn't come with them, the whole steering system is set up differently; according to the design that they DID come with. Out of which, the single biggest difference is, a rack & pinion only moves from side to side by a relatively short distance; so even if you were to fab one up onto the "frame" somehow, you'd discover that the car has a turning radius of about a mile, because the R&P moves the spindles so little.
Fourth, there are no spindles that fix issue #3, that come in any kind of car. What you'd need is ones with the steering "arm" made MUCH shorter: i.e., purpose built for that one setup. Modifying stock ones is not for the average amateur, let alone for some hack like me; since if it fails, you have no control whatsoever over the direction that the wheel points. I can envision situations where that would not be a good thing.
So: you need a different K-member (or some SERIOUS modifications to the one that's there); and well-engineered modified spindles.
For most of us, it would be pretty pointless to go through all that, for what little benefits it would provide. A whole lotta maze to get to very little cheese.

- do a search. The topic has been covered many times. Basically, the effort involved to properly set-up a rack in our cars for anything other than strip racing is not worth the minimal "gains" of a rack, especially with the "on-center" wear comon to rack units.
