what shocks are you guys using on your cars?
what shocks are you guys using on your cars?
I am thinking of going with some adjustable shocks/struts with stock springs or coilovers so I can have the adjustabilty as well as the ability to drop it a little.I know Coilovers are the best but are really worth it? How do they ride/handle? Any cons to Coilovers? Is there any specific brand ? Are the KYB AGX adjustable shocks/struts any good?

depends on what you want to do. if you want it to handle or if you want it to hook at the track. mines a street/strip car and i run 90/10 lakewoods up front and 50/50 lakewoods in the back.

dude, you really need to utilize the search key. The questions you're asking have been asked many times before. - you'll find a lot more info searching than what anyone will re-answer.

koni yellows are probably the best, reasonably priced over the counter shocks you can buy. I have the koni yellows with my front coil-overs, and QA1 carrera (spl) for the rear set

Not trying to be an azz here, but you're wasting space if you're not willing to do some research yourself.

You might not be trying to be one but you are one. All you have done is waste my time with useless comments. You must do this for a living becuase you are pretty good at this. I went on here for some help not criticism from some jerkoff who doesn't seem to have any vauluable info. Go waste somebody else's time. I am sure this is not the first time somebody did the same thing I did. We all know the we can search for stuff on here however there are guys on here that probably don't mind repeating themselves. and shove it!! To everybody else who took the time to make some suggestions I really do appreciate it.I have made a decision as to what I am going to do. I am just going with something equivalent to stock or a little better. I don't drive this everyday and kind of on a budget so for now that's what I am going to do so I will be able to get most of the stuff I need to finish the car. I can always upgrade later.

I have koni yellow up front and bilsteins in the rear. if you are on a limited budget I'd opt to get some koni red front and rear

However, some one expecting others to do the work for them is rather annoying. - A simple search of "budget shocks/struts" would have negated the waste of everyone's time.

come on guys, quit arguing about something stupid. If you dont feel like answering the guys question, simply dont respond to the thread. I, personally was interested to see what people had to say. However, as always it has been "KONI KONI KONI" and no mention of anything a regular person could afford to pay for.

When you are on a budget, then you get the best your budget allows you to get. If you budget allows for more than one option, then you might wanna ask what's the best for your budget. But when you ask a general shock/strut question, your gonna get the "Koni Yellows or Bilsteins" answer.

My intention was never to argue with anyone but when someone trys to make you look stupid or lazy and nothing good to say that really gets under my skin. Just cause people make suggestions doesn't mean I have to go with their choice. I was just curious . Coilovers aren't quite out of my budget but knowing myself I won't keep it too long so it doesn't make sense to invest that kind of money. I don't usually drive hard in the turns so it doesn't bother me to put cheaper shocks and struts on it in order to get the other suspension parts I want. It is more of a cruiser with an occasional trip to the track so I think ajustable LCAs,SFC's ,torque arm and pan rod is more important but that's just my opinion.Thansk to all that responded with suggestions.

Budget? I liked KYB Gas-adjust. I used them for over a year with lowering springs and they held up great. Also used them on my gf's daily driver RS. They are cheap like under $75 for both sides.
I now use Koni Yellows which i like a lot, haven't got enough road miles on them yet though.

Re: what shocks are you guys using on your cars?
Well, the main problem for me would be, even if I saved up enough money for something like Koni's, then what am I to do when they blow out a few months down the road. The longest lasting shocks I have ever had are the OE shocks GM put on my car in 1989. 56,000 miles, and still not a drop of oil leaking from them.
My last car, I blew out the OE shocks within a few months, due to my heavy usage of the car on rough roads (25,000 miles in a year). I then got some Monroe Sensatrac's figuring they would last longer than something cheap like the duralast or whatever. They were blown in 2 months from being new.

I have bilsteins all around. They are good.
They have been on my car for about 5000 miles so far and are doing great.

dpmalibu - you asked a very general question, then answered it yourself with a little reasoning. A quick search would have done the same thing, all without clouding the bandwidth. Many people have posted the same questions over and over, which is the reason a search turns up so many posts. Thus the cycle repeats itself. - I've been on here a long time and most of those who have try to keep this board helpful and informative without clouding it up with the same general questions over and over. Spending a little time using the search feature helps minimize the "cloudyness". Sorry to come off like an azz, but please be respectful of the guidelines of this forum.
