aluminum girdle cover for the 10bolt
posi/limited slip
YES, lower control arms with relocation brackets(these take alot of stress when accelerating.. upgrade or at least use poly bushings)

relocation brackets necessary on the lower control arms? I am installing the subframe connectors, lower control arms, torque arm and front steering subframe connector all from UMI Performance.

dont expect the rear to live long if you plan on beating it at all.

Re: Need help making my car handle the 383!
the strut bar will help the cars cornering ability by eliminating/controlling the amount of flexing the strut towers do, its a nice addition but by no means a top of the list item at this point

Re: Need help making my car handle the 383!
I keep thinking about how much hp! I want to have a bad motor that will run a mid 11 in a 1/4. so do i need that much power? I can get a 400 hp at the crank for 4800 installed. So do you guys think i need that much?
Here the big thing i want to beat the 6.0 GTO's the new GT's and beat the regular vett not the z06.
tell me what you think!
thanks

It sounds like your going to have a car similar to mine. With the setup your talking you should be all the cars listed about, if they are close to bone stock. Even the z06 stock runs 12's. I will let you know what I run this weekend, so you have an idea what you may run.

Are you asking about the motor? Just the parts were around 3000. I had a machine shop splay the main, bore, hone and all that fun stuff for a little more dough

Re: Need help making my car handle the 383!
i suggest less power and more work on the car and driver that have to handle it.
on a more helpfull note, perhaps a nitrous system to cut down on the cost of reaching that much hp, thus retaining more streetability.

Re: Need help making my car handle the 383!
Why do you think i am seeing if i need to get anymore parts for the car? Then alot of you guys just asume that we cant drive a car that has some power. I drive my dads car and it will still beat my car once its done.

Re: Need help making my car handle the 383!
I have a 552 hp 385 in my car. I went with a TH350 tranny after going through four 700R4 rebuilds. The 700R's didn't last long. I had a billet servo, kevlar racing bands, borg warner clutches, Precision Industries Vigilante 9" convertor and still lost third and overdrive in my trans. Overdrive was always the first to go out.
I installed southside machine bars and subframe connectors with an eight point cage, but I have a T top car. If you plan on driving the car on the highway a lot, I wouldn't go any higher than a 3.42 or 3.45 if you have a Borg Warner rear with disc brakes. My car has a 3.45 gear and it's cranking almost 6 grand when it crosses the 1/4 mile mark.
If you plan on keeping the 700 tranny, slap a corvette servo in it for some nice firm shifts. I would do this instead of a shift kit. If you plan on baby'n it around, you might get lucky, but I know you won't. You will eventually get bit by the "stomp it" bug, hehe.

Re: Need help making my car handle the 383!
joeblue, are you serious? you have a 383 stroker and it only runs 12.5's? hm maybe im just under estimating but i figured that you could get at least in the 11's with a 383.
why dont you just drop the motor in yourself? save you some money
and then take it in for a tune if oyu need to.

Re: Need help making my car handle the 383!
Its really bad off the line, I can't get a real good run in. I know that my stall converter is to low for my motor also. I will run again in a month with a higher stall converter and bigger rear tires. I should be in the upper 11's by then.
