Help with front clearances please
Here is my issue.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/auto...alled-aje.html
So its rubbing right now on the fender lip. I am running 2 in adapters on my wheels now. The inside edge of the wheel is in the stock location. I figured this by laying both the stock wheel and new wheel on the ground and measuring to the back of the mounting surface. The stock measured 5 and the new measured 7. So that left me with the decision of 2 in adapter.
I was considering switching to 1 1/2 adapters which would move the wheels a half in inwards.
My question is do I have enough room to shift the wheels in a half of an inch?
If not I was considering using v8 springs to raise it up some. (My car is a v6)
If I were to change springs to raise it, would it be necessary to upgrade my struts to accommodate?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Re: Help with front clearances please
i'm having trouble deciding on springs. i do want to raise it a little but not too much.
here is the choices i am torn between
1. get new v6 springs. i can assume these will raise the car some.. but will these be stiff enough to resist wheel well rubs on dips and such?
2. buy v8 lowering springs all around. this would allow me to drop the rear also. can anyone give any insight as if these would still raise the front? also would these springs be stiff enough (i assume yes)
3. or should i just buy stock v8 springs and trim (if need be) to a desired height?
so ive decided i do need to raise the front, but at the same time i want to raise it as little as possible, with the hopes that a stiffer spring will allow me to keep it as low as possible without wheel well scrapes.

Re: Help with front clearances please
ive been reading your thread Fords88Bird. so to my understanding, you decided against lowering springs because they would be too soft?
if this is the case i am liking your suggestion of cutting new v8 springs for a stiffer spring.
another thought: should i be looking into struts as well? i know it would be a good thing, i'm just wondering if i'm putting too much into the wrong area.
i was under the impression that springs set the ride height but struts control more of the suspension travel.

well i found a cheap easy fix. i just bought those coil boosters from the auto parts store. the front ones were too small so i went with the rear ones. one on each spring put me up enough i only get minor rubs on big dips.

Shocks would be what you needed. The ones you have aren't properly controlling the suspension. This is at least what I would think first.
