Re: Turn angle and lock-to-lock ratio

You'll need to get a quick ratio steering box with 2.5 turns lock to lock. They called it "sports steering" back in the day.

Re: Turn angle and lock-to-lock ratio

I believe what hold the steering back is the stops on the a-arms, but I'm not positive about the steering box itself. I just know that I'm using a manual box from an s-10, and before I put it in the car it would take 7 turns lock to lock. Now in the car it only goes 4 turns lock to lock.

Re: Turn angle and lock-to-lock ratio

The steering box has internal stops in it. You'll want to find a box with the code Z that's the quickest ratio out there.... you may also want to consider what rims the car came with. Since the 15" and 16" internal stops are different

Try to get hold of the member "CrazyHawaiian". I think he's been into drifting for several years already.

Re: Turn angle and lock-to-lock ratio

You could try a steering quickner in your shaft. You would have to modify it for this to work http://www.speedwaymotors.com/SMALL-...KNER,8280.html

Also the main thing thats going to give you more angle is modifying your tie rod mounts on the spindle. You want to bring the mount closer to the center steering pivot point on it. That way even with the stock rack you'll get more throw left to right. Like this...

http://www.mamsparts.com/

Scroll down about a page and you can see their modified spindles and the crazy steering angle.
