Question about Iroc Rims
I'll be swapping my 15" RS rims out with a set of 88-90 Iroc's. Will I need spacers....I'm guessing they would be for the rear, right? I have a 91 RS with drum brakes. Thanks.

Re: Question about Iroc Rims
You don't need spacers because the wheels are built with the correct backspacing. You may experience rubbing at full lock since your steering stops are not in the correct place but then again, how often are you really at full lock...

If you hadn't considered it, your speedo will be off with the new wheels unless the IROC's are 15's.

Re: Question about Iroc Rims
No, this will not happen if your overall tire diameter stays the same. Just make sure you get the same overall tire diameter/height (the tire numbers will be different if the rims are a different size) and you'll be just fine.

Re: Question about Iroc Rims
True, of course. I was thinking of OE tires on OE rims. Out of curiosity, jb, are these IROC rims 15's or 16's?

Re: Question about Iroc Rims
They're 16's...I also need one more if anyone knows where I can get one. Someone had 3 rims in good condition for sale with decent tires on 2 of the rims for $250. They were a local pickup so I thought it was a pretty good deal.
thanks!

Re: Question about Iroc Rims
I haven't taken any picks of the car in months, but it doesn't look any different than an IROC exept the ground effects are different. This is the 4th set of rims I've tried on the car. The last set were 18s that I think looked bitchen, but I got 0 traction with those, so I swapped to the IROCs. Several people I know said it looks better with the IROCs. I know it hooks better and drag radials for 16s are a lot cheaper than with the 18s.

Re: Question about Iroc Rims
Alright...I found a front rim in NY for $100. Probably could have found a better deal but I don't have any patience. Anyway, the two rears have 255/50/16's. What should I go with up front? 245's?? Thanks and merry Christmas!

Re: Question about Iroc Rims
My 88 IROC came with the 16 inch wheels and rear disc brakes and I never had a problem with fitment till I replaced and upgraded my entire suspension. There are some reports on the board that, like mine, when all the factory slop is gone, the front's can rub the inner fender. I just put 1/4 inch spacers on the front which solved it PLUS the wheel looks better closer to the fenderwell arch. I'm going to add some to the rear to help visually fill the space. Some people even run the front IROC 16's on the rear, which pushes them out even further. Nitro
