squeeks

When I'm driving my car and from outside it is very squeeky and makes a lot of noises as it goes by. What cheap things can I replace to reduce these noises. Should I just start replacing bushings and stuff?

You don't mention year, make and model, which is always helpful. At any rate, since your car could be 20+ years old, you'll need an improvement plan (to save money in the long run): Is the car simply going to be a daily driver or are you going to throw in performance parts?

Re: squeeks

Turn the radio up, really cheap fix lol. Jamesc is right 20+ years old bushings and things are worn. If its gonna be a daily just replace with stock components, unless you have HP plans.

Re: squeeks

I'm leaving the engine in it stock but I'm gonna be building up a 350 outside of it. Where can I find the bushings at?

Re: squeeks

If you got crappy handleing and poor steering you should just replace the front end with a kit that will come with most of the bushings, then get the ones for the rears. If your changing out the bushings and the stock parts are on like the idler arm, centerlink, swaybar, tie rods, ball joins, Lower Control arm bushings ect.

Can free up lost horsepower, improve handling, and fairly cheap.

Wana check calipers to, they have a bad tendency to squeak,

warped pullies will make some bad sounds coming from the bay

old wheel bearings

door stripping,

rip out the dash put padding everywhere if it shakes like mine "which im doing so so very soon !"

Re: squeeks

What I do is when I have the car up in the air, oil change or whatever, take spray oil, like WD-40, and hose down all the bushings from all angles.
Also havn't done this, but if you replace the bushings cover them with powdered graphite before installed, I hear it's the chit.

Only bad thing about spraying wd40 every is you make everything sticky and road grim will bid up fast

Get a greese gun 10$ and some silicone grease and lube it the right way

Re: squeeks

The lube helped the squeeks. But it still leaves this other wierd sound. When I engage the clutch sometimes when its in gear it will make a loud clunking sound. It doesn't do it all the time, and never when its not in gear, also if you shift really slow it wont do it

Check the trans mount. Should it be bad, replace with poly.
