Ok, My car pulls to the left when stopping. I replaced my calipers and it didnt fix it. What else could it be?

 

I'm going to guess that the front rotors may be different sizes or the rears are contributing to the problem. make sure the calipers aren't sticking and that the front lines aren't collapsing internally.

 

I bet my bird that your problem is the rubber flex lines running to the caliper. They will rot from the inside causing 1 side to swell from the braking pressure pulling the car towards the side with better caliper clamping force.

 

I would go with the brake hose problem, more so if they are the original hoses.

 

Those hoses would be 20 years old or so.

100% certine it is the right side brake hose. Third gen F bodies are known to develope restrictions in the front brake hoses. the passenger one is colapsed and the driver side is doing most of the work pulling your cat left.

 

I'm glad ya'll were saying the brake hose. Cause the right side one does look like it could definetly be replace. I will change it out and let ya'll know if it fixes it. Thanks.

 

I suggest replacing both at the same time.

Also this would be the time to upgrade to Braided Stainless Steel brake lines.

 

Ok. I replaced BOTH sides. It definitely improved it but now it seems it cant seem to figure out which way it wants to pull. A lot of the times it seems like it wants to pull a little to the left, and sometimes it wants to pull a little to the right. I bought the rotors when i did my last break job and the pads are only about half way til they need replacing. Any other ideas? i will drive it around some more tomorrow just to double check everything. The brake lines did improve it but didn't fully fix it.

 

Make sure you bleed the lines, may be some air still in them.

 

Will redo the brake bleeding tomorrow also.

 

Well i redid the front brakes(bleeding) today. I didn'e get to it until late so im not going to test them til tomorrow. But b4 i do that i think i might just redo all the bleeding for all the whells just as a precautionary measure. I will repost to let you people know if it fixed it.


On a side note. Where is the bleed screw on the master cylinder located? or does it even have one? If not, how do you bleed the master cylinder? I looked all around it and can't seem to locate one.

 

Can't hurt.

The master requires removal for a bench bleed. BTW, unless you've run the master dry at some point, I doubt you'll need to mess with the master.

ok, well today i bled all four wheels in the proper sequence. The drivers back wheel seemed a little funny cause when you release the bleed screw the pedal only went down like half an inch while the passengers side back wheel went down an inch or more. And when we got done bleeding all the wheels the pedal seemed to travel down a little further then it used to, no much but a little. Its about 2 inches from the floor when you press the brake with the engine running. And after all that it still seems to pull a little when driving. Again it changes which side it wants to pull to. And its still not near as bad as before i changed the brake hoses. Again i ask for everyones oppinion of what it could be. I will provide all the info you need that i can provide(even pictures if needed)


I know this has turned into a brake forum thread. But i didnt know it think it was the brakes when i first started this thread. I thought it was goin to be something to do with the steering. Is there a way i can change this over to the Brakes Thread without starting it all over?

 

Well replacing the brake hoses and getting the hard pull corrected is a step in the right dierection.

Another suggestion, when was the last time you had a alignment or the Idler arm checked??? When my Idler arm was going the car would pull a little in one direction when I hit the brakes hard, but that was my car.

 

Well, ive owned my car for about 7 years now and i have never had an alignment or idler arm checked. And my car has at least 200k + miles on it. Yes its a little ragged. I think i may try and replace the master cylinder and proportional valve from a junk yard to see if it helps. It will only run me about 15 dollars from a j/y. Just to see if that fixes the pedal almost to the floor and to make sure all the breaks are getting even pressure. One step at a time. I guess its gonna be trial and error.
