Could somebody enlighten me how a coilover works on a thirdgen?

My front end needs to be replaced badly and I'm all about losing weight (manual steering, no a/c heater) and using new technology but I know very little about suspension and the other post was asking about a coilover system.

What exactly is it? How hard is it to install? I looked at the art-morission page and it said some welding would be required...any idea what the welding's for?

Thanks guys. My friends are Jeep guys, they could probably enlighten me on coilovers but it seems this is a lot more go-fast oriented

No you looked at the mustang II front suspension. The coilover kit further down the page is all bolt on.

Alright Scooter, thanks for the heads up....here's the info:

Camaro / Firebird Front Strut Suspension Kit
82-93 F-Body's.
4" Ride Height Adjustable.
40 lbs. of weight savings.
Tubular A-Arms, poly bushed.
Threaded adjuster, upper mount & spring.

Complete Front End Package $ 575.00

Now, I'm not quite sure yet how this works...could somebody help me figure this out? Where do the 2 control arms bolt to? and the strut, and the brakes...and everything...

Thanks!

The upper mount goes under the strut tower. The threaded adjuster slides over the strut. The strut bolts to the ball joint?(or is it the spindle? I cant remember) and into the strut tower. The control arms bolt to the stock position just above the crossmember.

No flame intended but Have you ever looked at your front suspension? If not go take off a front wheel and take the picture with you. It is pretty much self explanatory. Things should become a lot more clear if you go look for your self.

i have had my art morrison on 2 different camaros. i bought mine in 97<kit>. the hard part it taking old suspension off. you can raise and lower the front end fairly easy. just dont plan on taking corners too fast as it comes with VERY soft spring rates. email me for more questions.

Scooter, no offense taken...I was kinda hoping for some pictures with it already installed because I mean I've looked at the front suspension before but it's a lot easier if you have it in your hands.

ckcam...This is definetly a car setup for the strip rather than autocrossing, so I don't plan on it taking the corners at 50mph, especially with manual steering

The system is quite easy to install, hardest part is taking off the old stuff.I powdercoated the top mounts because they will start to rust.Koni struts are a good addition.Make no mistakes, this is not intended for serious corner carving, but definatly streetable.
