Help, Rear Sway Bar Dia.?

I am ordering some new end links for my rear sway bar today and need to know the diameter of the bar. Does anyone know what the stock diameter bar dimension was on an '85 Z28? (I can't measure it now because I'm at work.)
Thanks.

I'm not sure this will help, but my 85 IROC has a 24mm rear sway.

James,

On an IROC your front-end should have a solid 24mm bar(tied to the "wunderbar") and there should be a 36mm hollow bar on the rear. If you had a 24mm bar on the rear you'd have insane levels of understeer.

No, he's correct, it's the other way around, 34mm solid or 36mm hollow front and 24mm solid rear.

Yes, the front is a solid 34 (I've been looking for a 36 on and off, though I recently purchased greaseable poly bushing for front and rear, along with a poly trans and torque arm mount). Aside from the loss of weight between the hollow 36 and solid 34, is there a significant difference in stiffness?

I measured my rear sway bar last night. The diameter is @23.5 mm at it's thickest point. Sounds odd but that's what I found.

Hey, Rusty Z,

My 85 IROC is an LG4. I've got the dual snorkel with K/N filter. If you want to go an easy step forward, swap some secondary metering rods in (I used AH with G hanger, but some of the guys like CKs or DRs. The swap will take all of five minutes) and tweek the air value tension spring--there's a tech article on it on this site. You'll be amazed at the 'scoot' you car will have.

Thanks for the advice. Where can I buy the parts necessary for that mod? Would a local store have them, i.e. Autozone or Advance Auto? Thanks!

I believe the main difference is the weight.

Thanks, Apeiron.

Rusty Z, I bought the metering rods from GM and the hanger from Edelbrock, I think. You can probably get the rods from Edelbrock as well. I can give you the GM part number, if you wish to go that route.
