It's definitely noticeable. It's not revolutionary or anything, but it makes the whole car feel tighter and more responsive to the steering, and may help the rattles and squeaks a bit.
GM sells them too, about $32 or so for a new one.

The wonderbar fits under the front sway and ties the front end together. I had a stock one on my 85 IROC but swapped in a Global West version, which is much beefier.

It's on the 82-2000 Firebird/Camaro page, at almost the bottom; look for this picture:

You might be able to get it cheaper from LONSAL, here is his e-mail address: topdownsolutions@yahoo.com, I got mine from him a couple of months ago, he posts here regularly so you can check some of his posts regarding the wonder bar.

Top-Down Solutions also sells a version of the Steering Brace (aka Wonder Bar). It fits the 1983-92 model years. I'd point you to my web site, but it's only 95% done. Just a few minor blanks to fill in. In the meantime, here is a picture of the TDS 105021 Steering Brace (aka Wonder Bar). Price is $40. Constructed of 10 gage HRS mount pads and 11 ga .75 dia tubing. Bead blasted, MIG welded and powder-coated in a color called "Raw Steel" (resembles cast steel). E-mail me if you are intereseted in buying one.
Thanks,
