What is everyone doing with their bump stops? I'm running stock right now, but almost touching front at rear just as the car sits. Can always cut em in half but dont want to risk damaging something else. Curious if there is a better after market alternative
Re: "OFFICIAL" Lowered 3rd Gen Picture Thread (Post Your Pics Here)
Hey guys.. ive been out of the F-body scene for about 5 years (5 years too long). I just got my 88 IROC last tuesday, its a beauty.. only 70k miles and completely original.. garage kept and never driven in rain or snow.. had to drive 5 hours to pick it up, but it was worth it. I didnt even have it 24 hours before ordering the first round of parts (among thoes parts were moog inner and outer tie rods, centerlink, idler arm, solid tie rod adjuster sleeves, new shocks and struts, a new exhaust... and of course Eibach pro-kit springs and an adjustable panhard bar)... this is before, hopefully i will have some after picks tomorrow evening, only got the exhaust done before it was time to close up the shop.

Awesome! Thanks! They apparently lower the front 1.6 inches and the rear 1.3 but yours looks very equal front to rear.. To be honest I had drop spindles in the plans for spring 2012 and wanted to know where your car was at for comparison, as I would probably get lowering springs only in the rear or cut my MOOG 5665 springs (reduces weight and increasing spring stiffness as well as a bonus).

I'm still not home. When I am, I'll measure and reply......

Ok I have the measurements you asked for.
Front: 24.5"
Rear: 25.5"
I have 17" torq thrust II wheels with low profile tires.
Hope this is helpful man.

WOW that is really low!! It looks good though.. right now my fronts are around 27.5, maybe a bit higher now cuz of minor weight reduction, but I think dropping my car 2" at the spindles will make it handle and look alot better.. The rears will definitely need to be cut a coil or two to match the front drop.. Right now my rears sit around 28".. And have new front and rear isolators (the rears are a bit thicker than stock cuz they are the 4th gen ones..)

Re: "OFFICIAL" Lowered 3rd Gen Picture Thread (Post Your Pics Here)
the only ones for our cars right now are the Racecraft drop spindles, and they are only available in 2" drop. You can get them for OEM or aftermarket brakes, as well as have them modified to fit tubular a-arms (they were willing to do this custom for me for 50$ extra). You can also get the rack & pinion version.
It moves the mount for the hub up 2" on the spindle, so it drops everything and keeps the stock front suspension geometry. They are also a tad lighter (4.2lbs per side for a total of 8.4lbs of unsprung weight). This lowers the CG quite a bit so it definitely improves handling but unfortunately with lowering comes a slew of other issues, such as rear LCA's being at the wrong angle, PHB might need to be adjusted and/or lowered at the axle mount, pinion angle might be affected, etc. If you already have adjustable suspension pieces like I do, then it's just a matter of adjusting everything once the car is dropped.
They are a bit expensive and that's why I want to be sure that I'll be happy with the height that I'll be at.. It's already tight under the car so I might raise the car slightly with spring spacers or something after I drop it with these spindles.. That might be delayed because I'm also planning on dropping in a 383 with alum. heads which will be about 50lbs lighter than my iron block/heads that I have now.. That might raise the front end slightly, like a half inch or so.

Yeah but I think I will raise the front to match the rear. O'reilly has a variety of spring boosters I hear. I'll go for the best quality ones. I hope they work!

Looks MUCH nicer now man. You should think of getting a pair of these for your car:

I found mine somewhere else for cheap but I can't remember where.

I cut 1/3 of a coil off my fronts, and 1/3 off my rears and removed the isolator and my car still sits high. It's always sat high it seems...

I need more drop, but Im not willing to cut more off the springs, I need the rates balanced...
And how it sat before:

Something to remember for people complaining that the rear sits too high. When you sit inside the car, your rear end will drop down aprox 0.5 to 0.75 inches. Have somebody measure it with you in the car. Or simply have somebody the same body weight as yourself sit in the driver's seat and see if you like the way the back end looks.
I'm 230 lbs and have uncut 5665 springs in the back. And I get 0.75" drop.

Pretty sure the answer is no. Ride height shouldn't change much between a V8 and V6 spring, but they are not as stiff as V8 springs. My brother left the stock V6 springs in when he did a 350 swap and ride height wasn't affected really.....seemed like the car drove decent honestly, but not as firm as my factory WS6 setup did.

Re: "OFFICIAL" Lowered 3rd Gen Picture Thread (Post Your Pics Here)
im just debating to cut a pair of v6 or v8 ones for now. down the road i will invest in a set of lowering springs but i have to get my car on the ground and moveable, and i dont feel like having to take them out right after i put it back on the ground. sorta like its at the height id like it and ill correct it later on if that makes sense

Its metallic silver.
