Front struts

I have a 1989 RS that I will be installing front struts. I know this has been posted before but I can't find it. What is the torque specs. for the bolts that hold the struts to the hubs? Thanks in advance.

Don't know where you got 203 lbs. at, but final torque is not supposed to EXCEED 148 lbs.

Actually I could've sworn that 200 lb/ft was the spec for the strut-to-knuckle bolts.

I believe GM recommends 120 ft./lbs, but I'm not sure. I did mine at that much. Never had a problem. Keep in mind the rotation of the threads on top of the mount.

Different year manuals recommend different torques. Newer f-bodys had a lower torque specs for some reason. As long as its between 150-200, it should be fine. They're crimp nuts, so they wont fall off

Chiltons... says 125 ft.lbs., followed by 120* turn, not to exceed 148 ft.lbs. (which apparently calculates to 200 Nm...), but you're talking ft.lbs., too, right? I dunno... 125-148 seems plenty tight... That's a heck of alot of diff between the 2 manuals though, ain't it?

I used the 203 figure - actually probably more. (3" pipe x a lot of pressure = more than 203) I messed up the threads on the bolts so I got new 5/8 grade 8 bolts, washers, and nuts and used those. I think the knuckle bolt is some sort of metric thread that no hardware store near me carried so I used standard. If I have any problems I'll post (as usual)
