adjustable caster/camber plates?

i'm thinking of lowering my 91 formula... if i put some sportline springs on it, will i have to buy some adjustable cast/camber plates in order to align my car? when my friend and i lowered his 99 gt we had to put cast/camber plates on it to realign- it was eating tires off.

those of you that have lowered your third gen, please respond.

also, i've found a good deal on some 96 firehawk wheels and i believe i'm finally gonna (been thinking about it for a while) break down and buy some wheel adaptors. will the adaptors miss-align the car? i'm assuming they wont.

You don't need any aftermarket parts to correctly do an alignment after you lower your car. caster and camber are already adjustable.

No, not if you get the correct adapters.

Re: adjustable caster/camber plates?

ok, thanks for the info! directly after i made this post i read some in lowering 101... guess i should've checked there first. it says:
"When lowering, there are several other suspension components that you will need; adjustable panhard bar, LCA relocation brackets, and an adjustable torque arm."

is all that really neccessary? like i said, when we did my friends gt, we just had to install some cast/camber plates... everything tracked right after that and he hasn't experianced any problems. of course i know these are two different suspensions.

Re: adjustable caster/camber plates?

wheel spacers won't effect alignment. just make sure you get the right ones to avoid rub issues.
adjustable panhard bar is so that you can make sure the rear end stays centered under the car.
LCARBs are to maintain proper angle on the lcas.
Adjustable tq arm is to reset proper pinion angle.
Aftermarket strut mounts (caster/camber plates) may offer more adjustment than stock pieces. However, you can grind the slots in the strut tower out a little more if you need to.

Re: adjustable caster/camber plates?

adjustable PHB, LCARB's, and an adjustable TA aren't required. But they might help. It's worth checking to see if you'll need them before you buy them. You only need an adjustable PHB if your rear axle isn't already centered. If your PHB is already level, and you lower your car 2", it will only push your rear end off to the side less than .050". Not a noticeable difference.

None of that has anything to do with alignments, nor is any of that required after lowering. Commonly done, but not REQUIRED.

I only have adjustable stuff on the back of my 87 GTA, because I pretty much had to get that stuff for my 315 rear tires to fit.
