Question about ebrake lever of older camaros...

Ok from what I understand teh IROC's or the camaros of like 85-90 had a little adjusting thing on the cable. Or something like that. Ok does only the IROCs have this? or is it the 90- Camaros have that? Thanks

I thought they all (82-92) had that... no? AFAIK there's two adjustments; the adjustment of the rear brakes, and the adjustment of the handle.

The adjustment of the rear brakes is just making sure the clearance between the shoe/pad and drum/rotor is correct.

The adjustment for the e-brake handle makes the parking brake apply earlier. I guess you could go in reverse, too, and make the brake apply later. Basically it's how high the e-brake handle raises before the brakes work.

It's smack under the middle of the car. The "center parking brake cable" connects to the center of an "adjuster", which has the "left parking brake cable" and "right parking brake cable" attached. Use two wrenches on the center cable; one to move the nut, and one to keep the center cable from twisting. FYI, that center nut will be hard to turn after all these years.

Ok is it unsafe to drive at 15mph and see hoow long it takes before it stops the cars... or do you have to be going faster.. I know I tried it, well it didnt stop my car/... So i didn't know if it was working right or not. IN OTHER WORDS.. how do you test your ebrake with out messing it up.?

There is no threaded center rod to adjust on 90-92 F-bodies. The e-brakes are adjusted only at the calipers or the drums. If you swap in an earlier style disc brake rear end (as I did) you have to also swap the entire parking brake lever assembly as well.

it's not an ebrake and is not meant to stop the car. it's just a parking brake and is to prevent it from rolling around, even if the car's in park for autos
