WS6 or not?
on saturday i am going to test drive an early 80's trans am, hopefully trade my camaro for it. my question is, inside on the dash on the passenger side, it says "high performance suspension" or something like that. how can i tell if it's a WS6 or not?

I think that the size of the sway bars is enough. If it has a quick ratio steering box and big sway bars I wouldn't really be concerned if it were a ws6 or not.

Look at the wheels and sway bar. I think the "Performance suspension" logo on the pass side storage flap indicates a WS6 car. I know mine is a WS6 car, and it has that logo. You should also notice by the way it drives

well, i talked to the dealer today, and it seems that the person who traded in the car wanted to take the Edelbrock manifold off, so he took the distributor off. then he thought that that was too much work. so he left the manifold, and put the distributor back in, but on the wrong tooth. the engine doesn't start so i won't be test driving it. i have a friend who is giving me a 350 so i don't care about that engine, i just need it to run long enough to get it 7 miles down the street into my yard. any one know of an easy way to realign the distributor on a SBC?
What the map pocket flap says doesn't mean ****. My friends 2.8 Firebird said that on the pocket-obviously not a WS-6 car. What year is the car? Most Trans Am's after 85, all Formula's(IIRC) and all GTA's will have the WS-6 package. If you want to be sure, check the little storage compartment on the driver side in the trunk area. The RPO code list should have WS-6.

If you really want to know... just open to center console and look at the RPO code sticker if it has WS6 it has the performance package. Also if it has G80 that means it has a positraction (limited slip) axle.
Or at least thats where my RPOs are listed in my 90 formula.
