when i make turns, usually right turns, my car kind of hops like im running on a flat tire. not sure if its a bad bearing or bushing. any help would be great. thanks guys.

 

if this is at speed, you need an alignment. If its at slow speeds, like in a parking lot, thats what these cars do. Its a problem with the factory front end geometry, its normal, but again, it can get much worse if your alignment is out

 

My car does this when backing out of a parking lot - It feels like its dragging a front tire when I'm backing out with the wheel turned. Strange.

 

Regularly turning lock to lock might not be the best idea given the steering box issue (cracking/tearing). If you haven't installed a steering box brace (aka Wonderbar), you might consider an install.

I think its a factory problem. But I noticed after I rebuilt my front suspension (i did everything) and got a custom alignment. It was greatly reduced/nonexistent.

 

The problem is you can turn the wheels to far at low speed, same can be done with your bicycle, turn it to far and try and pedal, it wants to go straight, not turn.

Did you replace the center link and was it installed rightside up? Flipping the center link over can be done. I have mine flipped over so that I could lower the engine more however it really screws up the steering geometry. I never have to worry about corners or sharp turns so it doesn't bother me. I did however have to install some different steering stops. The angles allowed me to turn sharper than the linkage should allow and the wheels could overcenter on the linkage.

 

So essentially a wonderbar (steering brace) would fix the problem for me? or reduce it?

 

The Wonderbar would prevent damage to the steering box area, but wouldn't prevent skipping.

I had a problem on my car where occationally the front end would bounce when coming to a stop. I know I probably have a crack somewhere in there, but after installing the wonderbar, It hasn't happened since.

 

In another thread, the consensus was that if an owner felt a 'day and night' difference after the Wonderbar install, it was probably because there was previous damage to the area. I buy that idea because most people, if the car is in tip top condition, wouldn't be able to tell if a Wonderbar had been swapped in or not.
