Camaro B4C
Ive got a 91 RS. Ive tried to post pics of it but alas....no success. I dont know why but I think Ive tried everything. Anyway, 91 RS 305 TBI 5-speed tranny. Not the fastest, but it starts everytime, and runs great considering it has 199xxx miles. The entire car is stock (with the exception of the cd player that I put into it, oil, filters, wires, plugs, yada yada). I know anyone who truly values their 3rd Gen can appreciate that. I think that the B4C Camaro is an RS body with Z28 suspension and motor? I want to keep the RS because its unmolested and pretty clean for its history.
Would it be worth it to try and basically build a B4C clone? I dont know how much (if any) the suspension would need to be beefed. A 350 TPI would be nice but i have TBI would that work? What would I need to make my RS a B4C Clone?

Re: Camaro B4C
what do you consider "worth it", the car may be worth a little more since you would be installing a more desirable engine, but the cost involved would negate any gain when it came time to sell.
if you want the better engine, go for it, but do not consider it an investment that you will make a profit on.

Re: Camaro B4C
B4Cs all got TPI and the 1LE brake system, and minor transmission mods.
Other than that, they're not anything special.
But as said, either it IS a B4C, or it's NOT a B4C. If you're is NOT a B4C, then .... you do the math.
However, that's not the same as saying you couldn't put all the things that a B4C would have on it; but that won't make it a B4C. It will absolutely NOT affect the "value" one way or the other to any significant degree. An actual B4C has some certain value from BEING a B4C; a car that isn't a B4C, doesn't have that value, no matter what mods are done to it. The "value" of the car stands on its own, not on what it's a partial clone of.

Re: Camaro B4C
"Worth it" to me is putting money, work and time into an RS to make it a beefy RS (B4C clone). Or spending money on an IROC. I could have new performance or original rareness. I like the RS because its clean and all original, although I like the rareness of a 91 IROC. I dont just want to throw parts at it and call it good. I want it to actually be something. In this case, the word "clone" relates to performance. Not a cop car with lights, sirens, and decals. I want it to relate to something original, in this case a B4C (performance) "clone". From what I understand, they were made in 91 with an RS body, performance suspension and a bigger engine. And I understand that if its not an original B4C, Than its not an original B4C. Hence the term "clone".

A b4c clone would doubtly be recognizable as a clone. If that were the case plenty of people have rs cars wth tpi engine but yet they don't consider it a b4c clone. A B4C car is far from a performance car, not all had 1le brakes. I'd say upgrade your car in whichever way suits you and don't worry about trying to copy a b4c

A clone is still just a clone. Money spent and no increase in value.
Just modify your RS the way you want it.

Re: Camaro B4C
I have a 91 B4C (non-1LE) 305TPI/T-5.
For purposes of the VIN/titling/insuring, it shows up as a Z28 Coupe, and all the common Z28 RPOs are there (LB9, FE2, etc.).
The first run of 1991 B4C cars did not have 1LE; the second half did. In 1992, all B4C had 1LE. The primary difference is the front brakes. My car is basically a 1991 Z28 with radio delete; the B4C RPO code gives me RS bodywork instead of the Z28.

Re: Camaro B4C
i have a 92 B4C 1LE... only thing cool about it is that it got the 36/24mm sway bars, 1LE brakes/rear disks, 3:42's and a TPI engine. My car was actually an LB9 5 speed.. they didnt get any special springs... but did have the harder durometer bushings that 1LE cars had.
think of it as a Z28 with an upgraded brake package. My car also has manual doors/windows.

Not all 1991 B4C Camaros are "aka police cars", i own a B4C 350 or 5.7 TPI 1LE That is Bright Red with Radio and light brown leather seats Power everything and cruise this is all Factory. i still have the window sticker for this car.

Re: Camaro B4C
Yup; they weren't supposed to get sold to the public but sometimes did, either because of dealer error or a cancelled order from the government that left a B4C on a Chevy lot. Also, some insiders knew they were getting something different and worked the system...

B4C `Special Service' police package became available to law enforcement agencies only. Cars were RS coupes with Z28 5.0 TPI or 5.7 TPI drivetrains and Z28 suspensions. These cars came equipped with the 16 inch wheels and P245/50-ZR16 tires, engine oil cooler, rear disc brakes, and limited slip axle. >>>Midyear, the 1LE 11.86 inch front brakes and HD calipers became optional for the B4C.<<<< This package was the only way to get air conditioning and the HD front brakes. There were 592 1991 B4C Camaros built.
