Re: anybody used this spohn setup?

skip the coilovers, drag bar and the manual rack if its for AX, other than that, they are good parts, but maybe excessive. Shocks tires steering parts and brakes should be replaced/upgraded first IMO, before all the shiney stuff is needed

Re: anybody used this spohn setup?

why would I skip the coilovers and manual rack? I understand the drag bar but the manual rack should be better thar the original setup, if I'm not mistaken?

Have you ever driven a car with manual steering? Not something I would want on a race car, let alone a daily driver. Whats the motivation?

a manual rack would require many more turns lock to lock than your stock steering, it would be a disaster for a autox or road race car.

the front coilovers limit you in tire size and and generally not used for a roundy round car for that reason. I had them on my 86 for a while and they are not the best thing going, unless possibly on a drag car, along with other parts, to loose some front end weight, and to be able to use a really long, light spring to help weight transfer.

Re: anybody used this spohn setup?

Try getting your steering box rebuilt and getting a front end rebuild kit. I have a low mileage 88 GTA and all of that still needs to be done. Squishy steering is something all of our f-bodys have now with their age.

There are tons of posts on here for steering and front end tips to get it more firm.

Re: anybody used this spohn setup?

NAPA should have all the parts you need to rebuild the front steering components.

You could also order a complete kit from Spohn.

Re: anybody used this spohn setup?

go to rock auto to get your front end parts cost less then $100. for all the parts (movtech) made in canada stronger then GM.thicker also. then have them zink plated. less then $30. i like the gold zink my self and had all bolts and other parts finished in that. it cost $60 now rust free for ever. spindles and backing plates done in that price also.

this is with the sphon A arms K Member and Coil overs (drag set up)
