Front frame rail support brackets
Hey guys I've got a very simple question but I cant find any pics to answer it for me...
The front of my 91 camaro has a triangular bracket on the drivers side (your drivers side) front that strengthens the front frame as shown in the attached pic. Is there supposed to be one on the other side also??? Because I dont have one on the other side, but there appears to be bolt holes where one should be. Is it missing or was it never there?

My Parts and Illustration cat (82-85) only shows one on the driver's side, but a pair would be better suited. That said, my 85 IROC was equipped with both (that is the K-member braces).

Bit more info on the brace that might be interesting because of the seeming hit and miss nature of the brace:

Thats how mine is. Thought we were just talking about the one under the tray. Not like it is much good, the steel is very thin there. How much support does a battery/EVAP can tray need?

Re: Front frame rail support brackets
Thats exactly what I have. Two are there to support the K frame to stop it moving around, but I'm talking about the other one under the battery tray. (At the bottom of the attached pic). I'll just buy another one, I just had a look at the car and it looks like it can be flipped around and used on either side.
You're right Pocket it might not do much, but I'd like to have them on both sides all the same. They attach right in front of the wheel arch and triangulate the strut tower to the front chassis so I'd like to gain all the rigidity I can. Even if it just adds some strength in an accident

Re: Front frame rail support brackets
my 86 had that brace on the driverside, but not the passengerside. I took it out, it looked heavy and the battery is on the other side of the car anyway....My 92 has that one too, but again only on the driverside.
i do have the triangle pieces that go to the k-member still on both my 86 and 92.

Re: Front frame rail support brackets
Another hit-or-miss GM thing... My 87 base Bird, V6, has all 3 braces (well, it had before I took them off to clean them and the frame up). If it was necessary, why didn't GM just put all 3 on ALL thirdgens? Why one here and one there, sometimes 2, sometimes 3? Did someone on the assembly line get lazy on a few cars or something here and there?
