Lowering with Subs?
First off I am sorry if this has been brought up before and I missed it. Anyway Santa brought me 2 Rockford Fosgate P3 12". I was going to buy some Eibach Sportlines for my 91 Z28, all stock. My question was when I add the subs (box and all) will it drop my rear end lower and just level out the car or what? Its a daily driver

Re: Lowering with Subs?
How much is the weight?
If it will make a big difference then just pickup a pair of 4th gen rear isolators. Problem solved.

Re: Lowering with Subs?
I don't think it will matter much or be that drastic of a change. One way to find out is doing it to be honest.

Re: Lowering with Subs?
also depends some what on where you put them. I'm assuming you're putting them in the very back? Probably still wont make much difference. you could always go measure to the wheel well then set the speakers in there and measure again. The amp probably won't make much more difference.

Re: Lowering with Subs?
I been there and can tell you this from experience I bought the sportline eibach I have the kyb gas a just I bought 2 12" subs box and amp did not lower much but then as time went on the back sagged and look dumb the problem is the shocks you need shocks designed for lowered cars so I put back the oem springs and put away the sportline until I can buy shocks designed for lowered cars hope this helps

Re: Lowering with Subs?
AM91Camaro_RS is correct, shocks have no effect on ride hieght. but u say it sagged "over time", so how old are your sportlines?? makes me wonder

Re: Lowering with Subs?
The sportlines I have are about 2 1\2 years old but has seen some down time with in those 2 1\2 years I also had contacted eibach about my car sagging and they said it will sag a bit and they recommended me to buy the bilstein rear shocks designed for lower ride that should solve my sag problem other than that I have no other explanation other than what the reps told me at eibach

Re: Lowering with Subs?
Springs fully support the weight of the vehicle. Shocks "simply" are a damper for the bumps. They control how quickly or slowly the spring is allowed to return to its static height. what people often call "harsh" shocks or struts do not move very easily. That is the way they are built. They are not really designed to give you a smooth ride over bumps. They are designed to control body roll and help handling...not letting the springs compress or expand quickly. Loose or worn out shocks move freely giving you a bouncy ride. i.e. they are no longer dampening the spring travel and the spring is making the vehicle bounce up and down.
Sorry to say that your eibach sales rep may need to sell you a new set of springs and not try to tell you that their product isn't worn out.
I guess I could have simply said... unbolt the rear shocks (watch your hands) with the tires on the ground and see if the ride height changes. now, hook them back up and take the springs out and set it back on the ground. did the ride height change then? (don't be under the car at this point because it will be sitting on the bump stops!)

Re: Lowering with Subs?
That post had me worried a little bit. I barely know anything about the suspension. Thanks for the tips!
