UMI Research & Developement...

1. It is true that you are currently working on a Stock Length Upper Pan-Hard Rod Support?
2. If so, what features will it have?
3. How come you don't have any options for the Front Sway Bar?

It's true we have the Panhard support on the design list. Unfortunately it's pretty far down. It will be the same construction as our 2024, just with revised geometry. Most likely this will debut in the fall after the busy season.

As luck would have it, we are working on some front bar options as we speak. Sign up for our newsletter to know when they are released.

1. Any chance of a Three Point Strut Tower Brace from UMI?
2. How about a Strut Tower Brace for Aftermarket Runners/Intakes?

UMI's STB works with AS&M runners, and I would imagine others as well. As long as you don't run the crummy poly motor mounts that raise the engine.

3pt Chrome STB would be amazing! It would be the only one other than Edelbrock's as far as I know, and theirs isn't offered in chrome.

Thanks for posting that pic! Sharing information helps all of us. We try as many combos as we can but it's you guys who really test our stuff.

Much appreciated.

Re: UMI Research & Developement...

Will the Pan-Hard Bar Support have the option to be offered in Chrome Moly, like the Pan-Hard Bar and Lower Control Arm's?

I have both in Chrome-Moly. What are the chances of UMI Performance actually listing the weight differences between the two. The web site states "The Chrome Moly construction adds increased strength while reducing product weight."

Hi Six.

There's a great chance we'll be able to publish weights. We started publishing camber curves and intend to share other data.

A CrMo option will be decided during part design. I'm not sure yet if that will be an option.

more soon

it is, but its also a relocation setup that also moves the panhard bar itself down, and allows for more exhaust clearance.

86 is right as usual!

http://www.umiperformance.com/catalo...roducts_id=289

The 2024 moves the PS mounting point downward to allow for exhaust clearance.

Hey sojer.

What part numbers do you have? New stuff or used?

Can you send pics to ramey@umiperformance.com and I can get you fixed up?

thanks

Dear Ramey, any update on publishing the difference in weight between choosing Chromoly VS Mild Steel for certain products? I also think it would be beneficial if customer's could see the weight difference in products offered by UMI (Stock VS UMI)? The Research and Development Department should have these Figures as they relate to the Unsprung Mass of the Suspension Components.

I also recommended Product Number 2024 to a friend, unfortunately he wasn't sold on the idea, He cited that the manufacturer of a product should have photo's/examples relating to the specific use of the product.(A true dual 3" exhaust is hard enough on a Third Gen due to limited space/ground clearance, a photo of 2024 with an actual true dual 3" exhaust would of probably persuaded him)

I always recommended UMI Performance Suspension Components!

Just suggestions, Thank-You for everything!!

P.S. Maybe you can push for that CrMo option on the Stock Length Upper Pan-Hard Rod Support Bar...

I don't see why it wouldn't fit. The LS has a much lower intake than the TPI.

We've never tried that brace on an LS car. Not sure what to say other than if we get one in here, we'll try it and see. Then post the results.

GATHERING WEIGHTS ON COMPONENTS IS TIME CONSUMING AND WE DON'T ALWAYS HAVE THE ORIGINALS AVAILABLE. OUR WEB DESIGNER OF COURSE CAN UPDATE THE SITE WITH WEIGHTS BUT IT'S NOT A FIVE MINUTE PROJECT. I ANTICIPATE BEING ABLE TO DO IT BUT ITS JUST NOT A PRIORITY. IF YOU'D LIKE A WEIGHT, PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL AND WE CAN DISCUSS.

TRUE.

THE PANHARD SUPPORT BAR IS ON THE PROJECT LIST WITH NO PARTICULAR COMPLETION DATE, IT'S JUST UNDER A PLACEHOLDER. IF WE DEVELOP A MILD STEEL VERSION, WE CAN ALSO DO A CRMO VERSION. IT'S JUST NOT READY YET IN EITHER MATERIAL.

Re: UMI Research & Developement...

I'm looking at part #2228-b, the body mounted torque arm set up. Is this compatible with the factory torque arm?

Nevermind, I read the details on it, you can probably expect my purchase here soon.

Re: UMI Research & Developement...

This thread was originally designed as a R&D request of information and suggestions.

Of the 20+ replies half of them seem to be for other products, questions, suggestions or banter...

Is there anyone else interested in the Stock Length Pan-Hard Support Rod, besides myself?

Re: UMI Research & Developement...

I am interested. however I know how product development for thirdgens go. I am not holding my breath. One of my winter projects will be to make/weld/powder coat my own out of some steel tubing and thick metal plates. I've heard of members making their own LCAs and SFCs fairly easily in less than a day. Last I looked the bar was fairly straight with one small curve.

Re: UMI Research & Developement...

What purpose would that part serve? Since the panhard bar itself needs to fit inside the passengerside of the current upper brace, making a tubular part would decrease exhaust clearance greatly. If it was not fully tubular, and had a hollowed section for the panhard to fit in, it would probably get over complicated and cost more money than would be reasonable for a part that accomplishes nothing but add some bling. If you just need the part to look nicer, take the factory piece off, box it where you can if you want too, clean it and paint/powder coat it.

I'm sorry, I just don't see the point in building in that paricular piece.

Their price for the relocated version is 200 or so, most likely doing it myself will not cost more than whatever price they use. The price of steel involved wouldn't be much and I can get any flat steel pieces for free. I have no exhaust that runs over the rear to worry about.I'm doing it in the cold months ahead, I won't have much else to do.

Apparently, the after market community generally agrees as no makes an OE-type replacement.
