Creaks and Groans Normal?
Hey guys, I have a 92 z28 with 93,000 miles on it. The previous owner garage kept her and didn't drive her but hardly. I have driven her about another 1,000 miles since I got it and the suspension has softened up a bit, not as much creaking, but I fish tailed her a couple days ago and on the return swing I heard a popping on the left rear suspension(it was a left turn fishtail). When I turn into steep driveways or crank the wheels all the way in either direction the front suspension will give a little pop. I just want to know if this is normal for our cars and just thirdgen GM construction and twenty year old car noises or if something might be wrong with my suspension?

Normal? for a car with most of its lfetime of use already consumed that's being abused besides, yes.
Correct? no.
Sounds like it's time for some renewal work before beating on the car so much.

Hey Jayhawk,
There could be a number of things going on, and it's hard to diagnose without being able to observe the car myself.
That said, you might just need to get under the car with a grease gun and lube all of your grease fittings - Ball joints, and tie rod ends. While you are down there check for play in your steering components and wheel. Look at the base of the grease zerk on the balljoint to see how far it has sunken into the ball joint. If it has sunken in and is below flush, that's a sign your ball joint is worn out.
Unfortunately to grease the rear bushings you'll need to unbolt one end at a time and I suggest slathering some silicone grease on the friction surfaces. Of course, if the bushings are deteriorating, you'll know they need replacement.
With a car that's done as much sitting as yours, I am not surprised it's developed some creaks and pops.
Try the simple stuff first.

Don't be a jerk.he gave you some good advice. How about replacing ball joints,Struts and springs for a good start. You have to realize the car is 20 years old now and has outlived most cars it's age. so it has consumed most of it's intended lifetime of use.

Jack the car up and take a look at things. Get your hands on the parts and see if they move like they arent supposed to.
I'd look at the swaybar endlinks 1st.
Fishtail the car all you want (safely) its yours. Just be ready to fix things

Re: Creaks and Groans Normal?
I don't fishtail on a regular basis. I don't want to twist the frame and a mess my suspension up. I'm only going to install suspension upgrades for a smoother ride and to better put power to the road. I'm not gonna fishtail her
Re: Creaks and Groans Normal?
These cars are not made out of construction paper. They road raced em pretty much right off the showroom floor in Canada for years. I think you'll be ok.
